Call me crazy but it was the right call.

Being up 12 rather than 11 is no different if they score a TD and kick a FG to win it. Being up 13 means they have to score two TDs to beat you and a TD and FG only ties it.

It made absolute sense at the time.

The real bottom line is guys need to hang onto the ball and the defense needs to get some stops.

You are on crazy pills. Going up 12 makes them score two TDs.

Being up 11 allows them to score 1 TD and 1 FG. 12 vs 13 means nothing.

In no world, in no football game ever was going to two the right call.

What does being up 13 get you that 12 doesn't? Absolutely nothing.

EDIT: you are off the crazy pills.

Kelly did NOT take blame for a mistake--

He said his CHART had go for one ....and then goes on to say it was a COIN FLIP to go for two...

A COIN FLIP

heads I go for one....tales I'm an idiot

doesn't like to admit blunders I guess....but you can't hide from that one

aloha

Like I said. Anything you say about it just sounds stupid. Maybe he's high on the something. Seriously...

Yes, my chart said go for one (like you would even need a chart), but I in my experienced wisdom decided that I wanted to get the 2 points back from the previously blocked extra point...or something...HEY, Fitzgerald dared me to...

We should have quick kicked.

So he has a chart, AND a guy upstairs who does the math for him, and he still went for 2. That's funny! I cannot believe they have a guy upstairs to do the math for them. Anybody notify the academic compliance office that the head coach has somebody do math for him? SUSPENDED.

Absolutely great post! If they suspended BK it couldn't possibly hurt us at this point.

The chart was for the 2-point conversion. The math was for taking a knee. Double whammy. Expel him.

Going for 2 there is a joke.

I fail to see how any chart in the world could value 13 over 12 with the time remaining in the game that there was.

This loss is on Kelly and he should feel the heat in his press conferences this week over this.

BK will NEVER admit being wrong. He is way too cocky..

Going for 2 was inexcusable. Especially the way Kelly tried to explain it. He basically said he had lost confidence in the kicking game, then he lets Brindza try a field goal in the 4th and he puts the game squarely on his right toe in overtime. It's bizarro world.

What upsets me the most is they have to have somebody else on the sideline who practices kicking extra points during the week. Unless, of course, Kelly has a crystal ball that allows him to know his kicker will never get hurt (or in this case have one of "those kind" of games). I don't care if he's a third string tight end, there has to be somebody on the team that can kick an extra point.

Or, if Zaire was the problem, replace him for Pete's sake.

This 100% boils down to coaching. All of the Kelly apologists can run to his aid, but how much simpler can the game get than kicking an extra point. A team that can't complete this fundamental task in football is obviously not well coached in that area.

BK goes for 2 all day

Hahah that's funny.

You know I've always given Kelly credit for not chasing points and this is the first time I can think of that he has and it cost us the game. You don't go for 2 unless you need to. He knows that too.

At this point I'm sure walk on kickers, holders and snappers could do a better job, so let's use these scholarships elsewhere.

Going for two was the dumbest thing I've seen a coach do since back in 2010 when I saw a coach call a fade route from the opponents 10 yard line with under a minute left down one, only needing a field goal to win.

It was from the 19, but yes...This was easily as dumb as the Tulsa game. Or how about the Michigan game in 2010, where he has Montana end the half with a pass that goes 10 rows deep instead of kicking the FG? Or even calling a run play cause you're on the 3yd line and Michigan wasn't able to stop the run?

I know coaches make bad calls sometimes, but in "most" of the cases it was a bad call because of the result (e.g. failing to convert) but the part that bugs me the most about the call for 2....say he got it, most of us would still be bitching because you just don't go for 2 in that situation.
