Cover up at UM....Brendan Gibbons

Piraty, I thought this topic had been brought up before, but this is new info. I guess I should have found the old thread. In this article, it sounds like hoke may have know something was going on with gibbons back in nov. when he said gibbons was out with a bad hamstring, when gibbons may have been suspended at that point and now gibbons is expelled. Sound like the university really tried to cover this up for as long as possible.

The issue has never been about Brendan Gibbons. Removing a kicker from the team would have been a no brainer. No this is DEEPER than Gibbons, this goes to Taylor Lewan. Lewan threatened the rape victim.

Totally agree with you on Lewan. Maybe not suspending gibbons until this year helped ensure nothing would keep lewan off the field.

funny, my wife got in some back and forth with a UM fan claiming ND is a "rape and cover" school.

this whole situation reeks and I wondered throughout the season why absolutely no one was making this more of a story.

I've had that same argument with my moron bil michigan fan. They must define rape as unwanted breast touching.

Read the articles ... really horrible.

The situation screams, minimally, a huge civil lawsuit against multiple institutions.

All to protect a player(s) and a program ... no respect for individuals in this society anymore.

Last week, the Michigan Daily, the campus newspaper at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, dropped a bombshell of a report regarding former kicker Brendan Gibbons. Gibbons was “permanently separated” from the university following a violation of the Student Sexual Misconduct Policy — but what was odd about his recent dismissal was that the violation actually occurred way back on November 22nd, 2009. Since that time, Gibbons has been the starting kicker for the Wolverines for each of the past three football seasons.

Many questions are currently being asked about why it took so long for a decision to be reached, and why head football coach Brady Hoke chose to tell the media that Gibbons was battling an injury when asked why he was missing the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl back in December. Unfortunately, questions couldn’t be asked today by the Michigan Daily at Hoke’s press conference, because the school apparently did not invite the publication and its writers to attend it (Matt Slovin wrote the Gibbons story):
