Then you open the season with a bye week and then Michigan? Uhh....Don't think so. And it's not like we can slide NW into the opener, they are already scheduled to open with a home tilt against Cal as part of the Pac10/B1G arrangement.

Changes can be made at late dates, and have been. Didn't we end up playing San Diego St. Because they changed their schedule to allow us to move the Nevada game to a season opener? Or vice versa....can't remember off hand.

Ultimately, changes can be made. In fact, we're already trying to make changes to finish the schedule. These things are fluid until they're not. If it's a matter of thebRice deal being contractually concrete and the Northwestern game not being legally locked in, that's what has to be done. We already tried to fix this by killing the ASU game, but it was legally locked in. If Rice can protect their game, they will. At that point, we have a chance to reschedule the NW game to a later year as the follow up isn't until 2018 in Evanston. There's some flexibility there.

We have 13 games. 10 are locks(5 ACC, Navy, Stanford, USC, Michigan,ASU) with Purdue getting the Shamrock game, that then becomes number 11. So who goes between Rice and NW? NW's schedule isn't flexible to slide into the opener(where Rice is)

Suggesting we drop the Rice game means we start the season a week later than everyone else and it's against Michigan...

So with the playoff system now, do we still need that ACC deal?

Yes. It is mostly for the bowl games in years ND doesn't make the playoffs or is chosen for one of the other top bowls. Without the ACC deal, ND would always be looking at lower tier bowls when they don't make the playoffs or are chosen for the other "BCS" games.

Wait a sec...you LIVE in Indiana and you've only seen Purdue??? Dude, if I lived in Indiana, I'd be there EVERY week!!! Hell, I used to drive 20 hours each way TWICE a season (one way was up hill in the snow) to see them play...

It a money thing more then a time thing with two kids and a wife going thru nursing school. Hope to be able to attend more in the future though :violin:
