SpeedsterX 1
"He can't throw the long ball" "He's not mobile" "He's turns the ball over too much" He might be in some extent some of these things, but what I will tell you, he's the savior for ND football the last 3 years. No, he has never been the Heisman candidate. He's never been the game breaker everyone would have wanted but what he is is the steady calm in many a storm. What he is is the most unselfish player in a major program I have ever seen. He has literally been the glue offensively that has kept this team together for the last 3 years. I, for one, am damn glad we have this young man on our team and ready to step up once again for the good of the team and the program. A true leader and outstanding teammate. From one old guy that loves the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, I appreciate all you have done, the humble selflessness and the dedication to your teammates you have shown. Where would this team be without Tommy? Well, we all know we wouldn't, at least, had one great undefeated regular season. You may never be an All-American but you are without a doubt one of the most appreciated and underappreciated players in decades. When your time is over at ND, know many of us truly felt your worth to this program. Now go kick some ass this season and shut some mouths up! Go Irish! tdnd81 0
Great post speedy! Rees bailed out the team a few times last year. He came right in and won games. Can't wait for Rees this year
ShamrockShapedTurds 10
I'm really looking forward to Rees continuing the role he had last year with Golson, except this season it will be backing up and sometimes bailing out MZ. But I agree that he's been a HUGE part of this team while he's been here. It took me a whole two years, but I made it to 200 posts!! LOL!!

Donjuan 2
Silent majority in effect. Everyone knows Rees is more proven, but it's sexy to go for the guy with zero experience. He's the new savior. <---non sequitor

IrishMax 10
A completely overlooked ability that no one ever speaks about is the sense of security that Tommy has been able to give to Brian Kelly. Through all the ups and downs that BK has had to endure as the head of this topsy-turvy Irish roller coaster, BK has always been sure of Tommy to be there when called, to keep his head on straight, help teach and inspire teammates in need and just be ready to give himself to the desires of his coach and demands of his team. This has meant a great, great deal to BK, who thus has a tremendous appreciation of Tommy. Edit: Before anyone pounces, he also handled his brush with the law with strength, humility and style. Rocketsan 13
Only fools would discount what Tommy has selflessly done for the program on the field...and that includes the comic relief of his drunken shenanigans off it as well...

I don't think anyone has questioned TRs selflessness and humble approach to his role on this team. But that aside, some have eloquently pointed out his short comings as a starter through his tenure both with statistics and the obvious eye ball exam. I have the greatest respect with how he has handled himself and contributed to this team. However, I know what I know about his skills and what to expect from him. You can candy coat it in whatever way you want, berate those who have no faith in his ability to get more wins than another option, but we all are fans and want the best for Tommy, but mostly..... This team.

This year with Rees we can expect the same except we will not make it to a BCS bowl. 8-4. Going with a QB with zero experience but with a lot of talent gives us a chance of making it to the BCS. Or, maybe Zaire will only win 6 or 7 games but will get a years experience that he will need for 2014. He is the future so do we play him this year with a back-up or start him next year without a back-up?

Not that I'm a Tommy defender, but do you realize you're expecting more losses this season than he has in his career if he's our QB? He is 14-4.

SpeedsterX 1
He means total record of 2 seasons with Tommy on the team. You mean losses as a "starter" echo.
chirodomer 0
I think Tommy "The Gun" Rees will surprise a lot of people with his new found arm strength next season.
efitz 10
Tommy and ND has had 4 years to improve Tommy's arm strength, speed and mobility. from the age of 18-21 is when the muscle development is at its peak. With all of high tech training methods available tommy should have improve substainally in all 3 categories. He still has 3 months-1 hour of yoga everyday plus running in 3 feet of water(frontwards backwards and side to side). Simply go to google and type in how to increase speed and mobility. I know this sounds basic but we only have 3 months-Get to work Tommy we want you to be successful. Does ND need to hire speed and mobility coach.
marcwithglasses 10
might be a new and re-energized tommy this year. a perfect opportunity falls in his lap yet again.

ndomer4 10
Alabama won a national title with greg Mcelroy, someone I think Tommy compares to. If we have enough talent on the team anything can happen, we have enough talent to get to a bcs game regardless of the qb.
