  1. It'll be interesting to say the least. If the team can start winning consistently on the field, ND will be able to dictate whatever terms it wants.
  2. http://espn.go.com/blog/bigeast/post/_/id/9387/coaches-want-notre-dame-ultimatum Quote from Randy Edsall at a Big East coaches conference. You have to think that if they issue this ultimatum, ND will be looking for another conference partner. I can't imagine a conference like the Big-10 would allow for ND's current arrangement with the Big East letting football stay independent to continue. I wonder if this could be the start of that "dramatic shift in landscape" that Swarbrick has been talking about.
  3. Here's why you take the money and play baseball if you get the chance: http://sports.espn.go.com/boston/mlb/news/story?id=5001399 If this kid never plays another day in his life, he will still have a $2 million signing bonus and can go to school to find something else to do with his life.
  4. Not sure if already posted but this is great stuff: http://www.indystar.com/article/20100416/SPORTS0604/4160406/1072/SPORTS0604
  5. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/stewart_mandel/04/08/kelly-irish/ Another article, this time by Stewart Mandel, that talks about the changes being made at South Bend. Something that stood out to me: After a weeklong break for Easter and a reportedly heated Monday team meeting in which the first-year coach from Cincinnati "drew a line in the sand," Kelly was more pleased with Wednesday's performance. Anyone have details on this meeting? I haven't seen it reported anywhere.
  6. That's a great article! It is interesting to hear the mindset of the team last year - all the focus was making it to the NFL. I guess that is expected considering that was Weis' big sales pitch on the recruiting trail.
  7. Kelly said today at the ND Pro Day that Wood is staying at RB
  8. USC and Michigan potentially going on probation. Hopefully Swarbrick is adding some beef to the 2011/2012 schedules!!
  9. I'm starting to think that my info may not be correct. I have not seen it reported anywhere. Trying to get confirmation that it has actually started. If wrong, I apologize fellas.
  10. I'm really excited to see reports coming out about this. Reporters are supposed to be allowed access to portions so there should be some good stories coming out.
  11. Supposedly started this morning...
  12. I've done some searching and seen no articles on it so my guess is that there is nothing seriously wrong. Rocket, I know there are a lot of things to question about Twitter but that is definitely Skip Holtz's twitter account. It is real. Just take a look at the tweet history.
  13. I've been following him for a while and it's really him. If it's not then there is someone with no life out there who tweets about everything he might be diong. I agree with you though - definitely not the most reliable source.
  14. I agree, it is unreliable but this was directly from his son's Twitter. Unless someone hacked into his account.
  15. Just saw this on Skip's Twitter: Get well Dad. We love you I couldn't find anything when I did a news search on it. Hopefully it is nothing serious.
  16. Good post, Hawaii. I agree with most of it but would argue one point. If Kelly never asked for advice from other coaches, then he is doing himself a disservice. He needs to continue to learn things from other coaches so he can evolve and grow in his profession. That being said, he clearly has more experience in being a head coach that Weis which will eliminate a lot of the on-the-job learning that occurred over the past few years. I like everything I am hearing from Kelly so far but it will all come down to W's in the fall. If that doesn't happen, it won't matter about his philosophy o
  17. http://twitter.com/hansensouthbend Harrison Smith, who finished last season as a LB is definitely moving back to safety ... Some tidbits ... OG Chris Stewart and FS Harrison Smith have been 2 of the winter workout stanouts. ... Stewart has lost considerable weight Kelly said junior recruiting is going well. ... He said winning some games in the fall would help the Irish be able to close next Feb. I know there are some here who aren't fans of Smith but remember the guy was heavily recruited out of HS. He looked lost last year but he is very athletic. I think good coaching can tur
  18. Some walk-ons make it. Clay Matthews Jr. was another one. Still, if Kelly is relying on walk-ons and unheralded prospects (which he has said he isn't but some people continue to think he is) then he will have a tough time. To me, its crazy how the whole RKG thing has been blown so far our of proportion. I thought Kelly explained it really well during the signing day press conference. An RKG isn't necessarily an under-the-radar guy, it is someone who the staff thinks can play at a high level in Division 1, a good student, and a good person. I don't think Kelly's RKG is much differen
  19. According to Rivals, Chuck Martin and Ed Ogeron are the ones recruiting him. Should be a really interesting recruiting battle.
  20. Is Todd Barr any relation to Anthony Barr?
  21. Kelly just said that was the full signing class. Unless he is in on some big secret with Henderson, I don't see it happening. He is a Trojan.
  22. Yes....I did. Wondering if that was a slip of the tongue or if he has something else up his sleeve??
  23. Hawaii, I am definitely on your side in terms of being optimistic about the future under Kelly. I really think he will do the job. However, we cannot call him a success or a failure until we see what happens on the field. He has a great track record and I think he will continue that in South Bend, but it is wayyyyy to early to tell. He did a really good job keeping this class together and adding some people to it. This is just one data point in determining what his tenure at ND will be. I think he will be successful but I don't think we can be singing from the rooftops (or calling fo
  24. Sorry if this was posted already but here is a good quote from Kelly: http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/02/on-signing-day-2010-notre-dame-looks-to-2011.html And Kelly made it clear Wednesday morning: With a full recruiting cycle ahead of them, the Irish staff plans on targeting elite players for 2011. An abbreviated recruiting homestretch made it difficult to secure such talent in 2010, but the calls are already out for next year. "We have made selected calls to juniors that we feel are national recruits," Kelly said. "When you're recruiting coast-to-coast at Notre Dame, you c
  25. HA! I like that!! Very good observation.
