  1. Wouldn’t put the tampering past Riley. If we assume this is new, I would bet he sees the writing on the wall with Price and Estime.
  2. I think it shows how far we are from the top when 3 or 4 schools had the same or more players drafted in the first round than we had in the entire draft. We know ND lacks top talent but we’ve had what, 2 defensive first round picks in the last 12 years? Georgia had 6 this year. ND is still at least 3 solid recruiting classes away from a Georgia, Bama or OSU… and we better hope Buchner hits or we land a stud in the future. I’m glad Freeman can close the gap on that end, and I hope he learned from some of his management issues in the Fiesta Bowl.
  3. With Henderson, Walters, Joseph and Griffith, why don't they move Watts back to receiver? Seems like it makes too much logical sense. Jayden Thomas looks like he's ready to make a move as well. We just have so little depth there.
  4. I have been high on Pyne but he was absolutely dreadful today. If Pyne is to be a success he needs to be accurate and he was anything but. Spring games don't mean much but Buchner needs to pan out more than anything and stay healthy. Pyne wasted an opportunity today and he looked MAC calibre today. Estime has me giddy! I am a sucker for a power back and I think he will complement Tyree/Prince well.
  5. Yeah, I think Harrison and Kyle Hamilton take the all decade spots.
  6. Seeing all the former players today made me realize just how good the 2010’s were. So I think it is time we give some appreciation to the under appreciated. No rules, I'd expect none of these players to be on any all decade teams. QB- Rees: He saved 2010, beating a ranked Utah, USC on the road and Miami in the Sun bowl. Without him we don’t make the NC in 2012. RB- George Atkinson: RIP. Very underutilized, although he was behind some great backs. A human highlight real, I’ll never forget that run vs OU. TE- Troy Niklas: For all my complaints of Kelly, he was great at recruiting athletes and finding a place for them to succeed. WR- Davaris Daniels: Imagine if he had a great QB. WR- Chris Brown: Speed for days. WR- Finke: A modern day Rudy. T- Christian Lombard: Solid yet unspectacular. G- Trevor Robinson: Played on some great lines. C- Braxton Cave: Bring your lunch pale, one tough sob. G- Nick Martin: Versatile player who could play guard or centre. T- Liam Eichenberg: this was tough as ND was loaded at tackle this decade. DE- Romeo Okwara: Worked hard in the weight room and broke out in 2015. DT- Daniel Cage: Good luck on third and short. DT- Sheldon Day: 4 year starter, reliable and sneaky quick. DE- Ade Ogundeji: Overshadowed by the other great players on those defensive lines. OLB- Prince Shembo: Very good edge rusher. MLB- Nyles Morgan: Loved his game. OLB- James Onwualu: Another player who switched positions. CB- Bennett Jackson: Outshined by the corner opposite of him, another former offensive player. Physical and great ball skills. CB- Robert Blanton: Had a knack for the big play. S- Matthias Farley: Had a knack for the big play as well, seemingly always at the right time. S- Alohi Gilman: one of our best transfers, tough as nails and made some big plays. KR- CJ Sanders: a shame he transferred. PR- John Goodman: the king of the fair catch. Honorable Mention: Tommy Tremble, Tori Hunter, Brandon Wimbush, Dan Fox, Asmar Bilal, Joe Schmidt, Jarron Jones, Kurt Hinish, MTA, Tony Springman, Tony Jones, KLM, Nick Coleman, Troy Pride, Jalen Elliott, Shaun Crawford. Lets see who you guys have.
  7. Love it. His quickness and change of direction is leaps and bounds better than anyone on the roster. Predicting he’d beat out Lewis was an easy pick.
  8. Oh nice, I called that in a thread I made after signing day. Based on the high school tape I saw, he’s far and away our most talented corner.
  9. Any word on who is looking good during camp? Ryan Barnes has caught my eye on a few clips. I think he’s a prime candidate to take over for Lewis with his size and ball skills.
  10. https://www.google.ca/amp/s/www.onefootdown.com/platform/amp/2022/4/6/23013437/notre-dame-football-irish-add-harvard-defensive-lineman-chris-smith-from-transfer-portal-minnespta seems like good depth.
  11. Especially vs Stanford when they put Coan back in to help with style points. That’s when my doubts were confirmed, it seemed like the staff didn’t trust him and he wasn’t developing in that aspect.
  12. This is the best case scenario and what we’re all hoping for. Some guys grow out of the dumb mistakes, but some don’t. I’m comfortable trading a few mistakes for the huge plays Buchner will make. My issue is he struggled in the pocket in the limited time we saw him. Can he win from the pocket when OSU forces him too? Turnovers and developing as a pocket passer will dictate this season. If he has improved in both areas, this is going to be a tough team to beat.
  13. I watched some Buchner tape and I think he has a really high ceiling. His running ability is something we haven’t had since Wimbush. However, for as much flack as Book and Coan got, they were great at taking care of the ball. This is where Buchner scares me… he had some bad turnovers in limited action. Hoping this was due to his inexperience.
  14. I’m not sure anyone thought he’d run a blazing forty time, if there is any knock on him it’s his top end speed. That is bad though. Anything over 4.5 for a back isn’t good unless your bigger and a power back. I think he would have been better off skipping the 40 if he knew he was going to run a time like that.
  15. With ND’s offensive line group and tight ends, this is a smash mouth team. If we can’t line up and pound it down the other teams throat, we are going to have issues. love the running back group and think we will see a heavy rotation.
  16. I always though Austin had really good straight line speed.
  17. I didn’t say no elite talent I said lacking, especially at wide receiver. Hoping some of the younger guys (Styles, Colzie and Merriweather) breakout.
  18. I used the word “poached” based off a post on another board from someone who claims to have ‘sources.’ Nevertheless, based on the article, a more apt title would have been “approached.” It will be interesting to see what Rees’ offence looks like without Kelly by his side though.
  19. https://fightingirishwire.usatoday.com/2022/02/16/notre-dame-football-marcus-freeman-tommy-rees/ I for one do not see the allure of Tommy Rees. I thought at the time Brian Kelly made a buddy hire rather than the best man for the job. We’ve seen this with Quinn, BVG, etc… Of course the team succeeded with him as OC. Kelly had built a solid program and ND had solid depth throughout the roster coupled with favourable schedules. Nevertheless he does get some credit for ND’s success. He was not as inept as some make him seem but he’s easily replaceable and ND can attract a top OC.
  20. I thought Keeley always had big time offers? I am just speculating but I do think ND is behind the 8 ball in regards to the NIL.
  21. This has NIL written all over it. If ND doesn’t figure this out, we will get left in the dust.
  22. https://fightingirishwire.usatoday.com/2022/02/15/johns-hopkins-graduate-transfer-given-opportunity-at-notre-dame/ This would really bolster depth in case of injuries. Plus, you never know how hard a kid is going to work when given a once in a lifetime opportunity. I know the competition isn’t the greatest, but he’s got a nice highlight tape.
  23. More tempo, more screens, more sweeps, more motion, more varied runs, etc… I watch a TON of college ball and it’s rare I see an offence that looks as vanilla as the ND offence. We run the same 4 or 5 runs and have been doing so since Kelly has been here.
  24. ND is lacking elite offensive talent. The blame has to go on Rees. The offence is not exciting and recruits can see that.
  25. Lenzy, Davis, Wilkins, Styles, Colzie and Thomas will all be ahead of him. Unlike corner, more than one of these players have flashed and nearly all were highly rated out of high school. If Rees is anything like Kelly, you’d be hard pressed to see him until late in the year or mop up duty.
