  1. Agree the average is way more important. The most important recruit in the class (now that Keeley is gone) is Bowen. It's hard to even call him committed at this point with all the visits to Oklahoma and A&M. But, those two teams having rough starts to the season (along with us) surely doesn't hurt ND. Like I said, if he gets up to ND for the Clemson game on Nov. 5, I like ND to keep him. There was an OU beat reporter from one of the recruiting sites who basically said his high school (Guyer in Texas) is a huge Oklahoma school, and he is likely getting a ton of pressure to flip. The QB on his team, who is a good friend apparently, is an OU commit (Jackson Arnold). And apparently he has a girlfriend who is going to OU. So, a ton of pressure on him to go there, but mom likes ND and the whole family is supposed to be in South Bend for the Clemson game for 3 days I believe. If that visit goes well, I could see him finally shutting things down and signing with ND on ESD. Love, who is 65th in the 247 Composite, is supposed to be at ND for the Stanford game. It's currently the only visit he has on the schedule. Steve Wilfong (247 National Recruiting Analyst) has his crystal ball on ND. Other ND insiders like ND here as well. I think A&M has NIL in their favor, but not much else, especially the way the season is going. Love could be committed to ND by the end of October. His commitment would give ND 289.86 on 247 (assuming Bowen sticks, no other decommits, and no other commitments), which would have ranked 5th, 6th, and 6th in the last three cycles.

  3. For those who prefer reading to video, everything from Coach Freeman's press conference today, per 247: https://247sports.com/college/notre-dame/LongFormArticle/Everything-Marcus-Freeman-said-Monday-ahead-of-Notre-Dame-vs-BYU-194702074/#194702074_28 (I posted this in a different thread before this one was created. It makes more sense being here.)

  4. Thought I’d start a new topic on this since the discussion of Jimbo and A & M was distracting from the recruiting board. I’m not a big fan of Jimbo Fisher, think he’s overrated as a coach and definitely overpaid! His contract is fully guaranteed, which means if A&M were to let him go after this season, they would owe the entire contract as a buyout - something like $94 million. That’s crazy. The other coach who comes to mind is Mel Tucker at MSU. What has he ever accomplished as a HC to deserve that contract? Bupkis, I think. I don’t necessarily root against these 2 coaches per se, more I would like to see the schools giving out these massive contracts rue the day they thought this was a good idea.

  9. You're forgetting that the transfer portal makes it annual free agency for these kids. If they're any good and only went to A&M for the $$$, they'll probably be inclined to listen to competing offers and head elsewhere. Meanwhile, A&M will have their scrubs eating up their scholarships when they realize that they can't transfer anywhere else. Only way to stop that is to be a title contender. But I don't think that they're going to be in position to make a run while these kids are still in undergrad.

  10. A&M has a ton of freshmen playing this year. The team does look pretty inept, but given the talent level of those freshmen, I believe that team will be much better next year and the year after that. Their biggest two problems: Jimbo isn’t an amazing coach, and they play in the SEC west.

  11. Who knows. No fan of Jimbo, but who is a better to take over at TAMU? SECW is the best division in CFB. Easily best. Not one bad team. Bunch good coaches too.
