  1. Hello, coming over from Rivals Blue Gold I have been posting there for 16 years. I look forward to talking ND football with everyone.

  3. Well, I think it is that time. I don't see ND adding any other HS players this year. I'll give my thoughts on the 2022 class and hope others do too. QB Angeli shows solid poise, a high football IQ, and good anticipation on his throws. Solid arm, potential to grow, and a year with Balis could add to his arm strength. That said, who is he? Mac Jones, Sean Clifford, a random backup QB. ND needs to aim higher initially at the least like they have in 2023. He really is a wait and see. RB Price is one of, if not my favorite, player in this class. I love that way he runs. Great build, burst, and work ethic. When he adds a little weight I think he has the mentality that he could challenge for time in 2022. Potential star in my opinion. WR Merriweather is great and I think will be very. very good. I think he brings a really unique body type and the right attitude. He weighs more than I thought and will likely play early, which will be needed too as of now. ND failed in needing at least 2 more WR. Hopefully they can find one or two in the portal then win some battles in 2023. TE LOVE these TEs. Provided he heals properly, I think Raridon could be a longer, faster Michael Mayer. He isn't as physically developed at the same age, but he has the athleticism, mean attitude on D, and mobility. Staes is longer and leaner than I expected. Moves really well, appears to high point and catch the ball really well. Great combo moving forward. OL Five All-Americans is a huge win for ND especially when adding to the 2021 class. It could result in a really good player transferring because of how many great OL ND is stocking and that is not a bad thing. Wagner needs to add a ton of weight but is VERY strong. He looks like a future OT for sure. Schrauth or Tanona are probably more likely to see PT first because of their size and strength. Chan and Craig will need time to adjust to the bigger game but both have great tools to work with and can sit for a year or two easily. DL Ford impressed me a ton. My thoughts on him went WAY up during the All-American practices and game. More mobile and fluid than I thought, really nice pick up. Gobaira looks like he's getting electrocuted at the LOS every time he lines up. His speed is fantastic and his weight was higher than he looks (230#). Would not shock me to see get PT early. Hinish is a guy all teams need. If he is like his brother that is a great addition, he won't be outworked. Overall, solid DL class but needed one more guy for me to love it. LB Fantastic class and definitely one of the best in the nation. Addressed all 3 positions and all have slightly different body types. Sneed is JOK, Junior seems like a bigger, better Drew White. I'm not sure ND has had a Burnham or Ziegler recently. CB Solid class but needed a Devin Moore type to be very good to great. Mickey has a nasty attitude and attacks. Love his speed and what appears to be a strong mental attitude. Morrison has the pedigree and length to be great. He is probably my D guy that I am most intrigued by as he could turn into something special. S Safety was a fail in my eyes. Bellamy has that nasty, attacking attitude which is needed similar to what was said about Jojo Johnson last year. But he is small and to be effective will need to have strong technique while keeping his speed. ND adding Brandon Joseph was HUGE. ST This might have been a fantastic late addition. He was booming kicks at the All-American game both on punts and kick offs. I get the hype as a potential NFL kicker. If he is consistent then ND has something. Overall, NDs class was very good especially considering when and how BK left. They improved the overall player quality again. There is another step up they can take and are close. ND finished second for several players that would take this class to elite (RB, WR, S). They need to start to close on some of those players at least. Elder is right in that ND needs a top level QB, all would agree I think. I do not believe the QB issue in 2022 was on Rees, BK was a legitimate issue for the QB in this class. If people want to discuss this further in depth take it to a different thread. ND has added coaches that really recruit hard and they need to strike. EDIT: Average player rating for the last 5 years 2022: 0.9224 (removed McFerson) 2021: 0.9033 (removed Bryan and Powlus III) 2020: 0.9139 (removed Peitsch) 2019: 0.9094 (removed Brambeltt) 2018: 0.9005

  5. That's probably because he's never HAD a 21 point lead over a team with a small digit(s) next to their name. He has, however, managed to piss away multiple score leads on unranked opponents.

  8. Elston leaving, doesn't hurt recruiting, it hurts the culture. I think Elston was a marginable at best recruiter. Until Marcus came along, our DL was ok, with normally one 4 star a year. Now maybe it was more because of Lea, who didn't recruit at all, but the recruits were not Top 100 until Marucs started to help. Maybe Elston stepped up his game once he saw the effort Marcus was putting in? Maybe. This isn't about recruiting. We will be fine without Elston recruiting, and we may even be better. This is about personality; it's about cuture. Mike used to open up his house and family to recruits and dlineman. There was a story out about Mike was on the road, and couldn't take his daughter to a dance (I think), and Kurt Hinish took her. They were family. This is the loss here -- family. I guess the right word is bummed. I'm bummed that Mike is leaving. He is a good man. He's what we want our athletes to see as a future in coaching.

  9. Overall, I thought all of NDs recruits did well. Angeli didn’t help or hurt himself ranking wise. He’s solid, high football IQ, consistent. Sneed was as advertised. High 4 star and dynamic. Chan needs to adjust to the size and speed of better competition. He showed good promise. Wagner and Craig both looked good but clearly need to add weight. Very promising though. Schrauth was good. Clearly strong and rebounded when he got beat. Merriweather was as advertised. Really like him. Think he can help early. Ford was better than expected. Moved quicker and better than I thought. Looked good in practice and the game. Gobaira was as advertised but a little shorter than expected. Very high motor and quick twitch. The guy was ready to rip and tear all week. Tuihalamaka is a big, thick kid. Tough game for him to showcase anything because they threw a ton. Made a nice play when he had the chance though. Burnham got a lot of buzz in practices. The game was more passing so he was less involved but a good week. Ziegler looked great to me on tv. Moved really well and smoothly. He was around the football a lot including special teams. McFerson will be an awesome addition provided he’s consistent. I get the NFL talent talk. Great couple of weeks for ND recruits. I would say everyone was on par or above expectations. Also great publicity for ND during the All American Bowl.

  10. You all have shown me kindness from day 1.. Speedy allowed my first post because you had to have 20 posts to show a link/ video. I remember being so excited that Aaron Lynch had multiple sacks during the U.S. Army All American game that i posted the first full game video i could find. I'll never forget when that 81 jersey came, the #5 or books. Then I went to watch ND vs Syracuse and Schell and Sligo invited me to meet schell's family. Before i left the tailgate it was shell's advise to help in anyway I could. Got home asked @Donjuan if I could help and he believed in me, has walked beside me, helped me understand things and i'm super proud to know you DJ. @Mike you've been a great addition to our family. You've upheld DJ's tradition of leading with kindness. Made me realize while the technology may change, the kindness won't. To all of you, a thank you to every single poster. This place is made of extremely kind and caring people. I'm looking forward to posting for as long as I am able. Go Irish! Yours always Brian AKA faith

  11. 1) You were pretty vocal about wanting to have ND keep Kelly as HC since you seem to believe that he was good as anyone could be as a HC at ND 2) Now you are blasting ND's offensive recruiting which ultimately falls on Kelly since he hired and managed the offensive staff 3) Freeman has only had two weeks to address Kelly's offensive recruiting shortcomings for 2022. I do not believe that Freeman was involved with recruiting any offensive players before he became HC. That said, he did get Schrauth to commit - who did not seem to like Kelly. 4) I assume that Freeman is doing everything he can to keep the 2022 class intact - especially the recruits who are wavering. 5) What exactly are you expecting from Freeman? For him to find class of 2022 5 star QBs and WRs who want to sign with ND on Wednesday?

  13. Kelly is who he is and it was there the whole time. If nothing else the taking him down a notch, giving him the finger, occured tonight when pretty much the whole staff decided to stay at ND as family instead of follow the money and Kelly to LSU. Rees staying is as big of a eat shit statement as anything, your former QB who was the only one who could stand and hang during a purple faced tirade on the sidelines, who you set up with his first major coaching gig as OC. Loyalty to the Notre Dame family was on full display tonight, and its something Kelly never bought into and is now getting a full blast to the face.

  14. Cant recall a time where the entire fan base, alumni, players, and former players were this fired up and all on the same page. Or as our former coach says..."aligned". Funny that we all united and "aligned" in response to his exit.

  15. What this guy has done on the recruiting front and the high level of talent he is getting to ND is absolutely amazing. He is flat out embarrassing Brian Kelly in every aspect and making all of his excuses look ridiculous. I haven’t seen this level of talent coming to ND since the 80’s and early 90’s. Now, I understand he still has to develop them and coach them to maximize their talent, but so far this guy has delivered on everything he has done. I have no doubt he will be a great coach as well. so refreshing to see and so glad I don’t have to hear BK and all his BS. What a breath of fresh air!

  16. ha - never thought i see the day when this board debated whether a top 200 DL was a "take"... how quickly things change. The Irish Illustrated guys love him and he was a take for the staff which is enough for me. This was enough for me to sign into my account for the first time in probably 5+ years.

  17. For those watching the rankings, ND is in a really good spot. They're obviously #1 right now, but we've seen that before when ND starts hot then limps to the finish line for a borderline Top 10 class. I think this class has Top 3 potential. Here is a projected class: QB: Moore RB: Irvin (commit), Limar WR: James (commit), Greathouse, Gallagher, Elzy TE: Flanagan (commit) OL: Pendleton (commit), Jagusah, Absher DL: Keeley (commit), Vernon (commit), Traore (commit), Houston LB: Bowen (commit), Zinter (commit), Ausberry CB: Gray, Bell S: Bowen (commit), Shuler (commit) That would give ND a score of 303.39 on the 247 Composite (what I use for class rankings). In the last five cycles, that score would rank 4th, 3rd, 4th, 3rd, and 3rd. So, for sure in the Top 5. ND leads or is in the top group for all of the above non-committed guys. This is a very realistic class, with ND hitting on some guys and missing on other highly rated guys. QB: ND is battling LSU and Oregon for Moore. Michigan is running 4th per most recruiting guys. Miami is also hanging around. ND leads, although the lead has narrowed after some visits to other schools. He is supposed to be on campus for ND's big official visit weekend in June where all the current commits and all of the highly ranked recruits will be on campus. If he makes it, I think ND closes the deal that weekend. There are no backup options. Moore is it. RB: ND leads for Limar (not sure who is running second). ND is also in on Jeremiyah Love, but not sure where ND stands. I don't love the class of Irvin and Limar, but I think the class last cycle is really good. Price is going to be a monster in college, and getting Payne to transfer in is huge. WR: All three guys - Greathouse, Gallagher, and Elzy - were on campus last week. ND is in good shape for all of them. Landing Greathouse and Gallagher would be huge. ND is battling Texas for Greathouse, but I think ND leads. It's ND or PSU for Gallagher. I think that is closer to 50/50. Elzy's is probably ND's to lose. This has the potential to be the best WR class in a long, long time. TE: Flanagan is solid to ND, although schools like Alabama are continuing to recruit him. ND had a UGA TE commit on campus last weekend, but I think Flanagan will be the lone TE in the class. OL: Pendleton committed. Siereveld is committing next week, but it looks like OSU. ND is battling Michigan for Jagusah, but everyone likes ND right now. It's ND/Clemson for Absher - probably closer to 50/50 with ND holding a slight lead. But if he visits Clemson again, which is possible, then this could go Clemson's way. ND also in it for Monroe Freeling, probably near the top, but not enough confidence to predict ND yet. DL: ND obviously has to hold on to Keeley for this class to be Top 3. I'm more confident in that happening than I was a month ago. Vernon and Traore are great gets. I think ND lands Devan Houston. I think ND is also near the top for Jason Moore, but I think some other schools are right there as well. LB: Bowen is the Blake Fisher of the class in terms of recruiting other guys and being the class leader. I wouldn't have taken Zinter's commitment, but got to trust Freeman and company. I think ND pulls off the upset and lands Jaden Ausberry. ND is competing with LSU and Auburn. Samuel M'Pemba really likes ND, but I just don't see him ending up Irish. CB: It'll be ND or LSU for Gray, who decides July 4th. His old HS coach is the CB coach at LSU, which is why they're at the top. I think ND wins out in the end, though. Micah Bell is relatively new since the Rhett decommitment, but I think he is ND's to lose. Maybe sooner than later. S: ND needs to hold on to Bowen. Him and his brother were on campus last weekend. He is still talking to other schools, primarily Oklahoma, so we'll see. If ND has another decommitment, I would put money on Bowen. But for now, I think he sticks. Adon Shuler is going to be a beast - I think he is massively under-ranked. He is solid in his commitment.

  21. I wanna know who the fu(k is panicking after a nailbiter loss to a top 10 team with a coach who was less than a month old. BK wouldve lost by a helluva lot more and he has demonstrated that time and time again. What I watched was an improvement in progress with a few growing pains. I didnt expect a W and anyone who was expecting a dominant W clearly didnt watch what we had during the regular season. We were lucky to be in a major bowl and OSU was def a better team. Next year we are going to crush shit.

  24. I know there are a few more days to go for the year, but I don't expect much to change in terms of reputation. Leaders are as follows. First up, Moderators #1 - @FaithInIrishForeverwith 923 Reputation points, ~ double the next closest poster Faith has been my right-hand man since I started my journey in bringing Domer Domain to the modern age this spring. He has been there every step of the way, has provided extremely valuable feedback, and has a better grasp of what being a Domer is all about. He cares for this community like family, which is exactly what I want to see this place be. Like a big family. And although things get heated like it does in a family, Faith is always there to try and play the role of getting everyone back on the same page. Thank you, Faith. You have been a huge asset for the site. And that doesn't even include the behind-the-scenes stuff like updating the YouTube highlights on the homepage of domerdomain.com #2 - Our Newest member of our Mod team @NYGoldenDomer, with 284 Reputation Points. He joined the moderating team fairly recently, but he has been a fantastic addition so far, and extremely active in the community. #3 - The rest of the moderating team, which includes @SDIrishFan ,@SpeedsterX, @Donjuan, @tdnd81, and the rest of the Moderating team:@ND FANATIC, @GoldLid, @EnviedOne, @Irish Chris, @Austin, @JonesTech. Some are more active posters than others. Some are more lurkers, but they're all a very important reason Domer Domain is what it is today. So I want to thank every single one of them. Next up, Domers / Members! This is going to be a 1a / 1b scenario as I'm overruling the point system on this one since both of these members are very important contributors to the forum. And they are (in no particular order) @OKelleyIrish& @Big23Head. #1 @OKelleyIrish joined Domer Domain in 2017, but activity really ramped up this year. He has created some GREAT discussions such as the ND assistant coach / staff tracker, What to Watch threads, post-game thoughts, and more. Thank you for the amazing contributions, and we look forward to your continued involvement in Domer Domain. It's no secret how important content like that is to keep a forum active. #1 @Big23Head, who has always gone above and beyond when it comes to the recruitment side of things. Recruiting is something that Domer Domain has always been thought of as a leader in, and he's a big reason why. Thank you for owning the Recruiting Prospects threads prospering. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Each and every poster is the reason Domer Domain continues to thrive. But I want to thank the following members & mods for going above and beyond. Please consider dropping a thank you to them below. @FaithInIrishForever, @NYGoldenDomer, @OKelleyIrish, @Big23Head THANK YOU! P.S. Keep a lookout in your Private Messages. Sometime this week, the above 4 members will be receiving a small token of appreciation - A Gift Card to Fanatics.com. Use this on whatever you would like. I wish I could offer more since your contributions are invaluable. But I wanted to get you all something as a thank you.

  25. @ELDER06 Please only quote things you agree with and don't continue down this path. You are a great debater and we respect you. But please use language that respects everyone on the board. If you don't agree with a post, either ignore it or post your own response. I really don't want you to go down this path because you have the love of Notre Dame, and are enjoyable to post with. This stuff won't be tolerated going forward. Please make me proud of the decision to issue a last written warning

  28. The 2023 recruiting class will tell me everything about MF's ability to lead ND to a national title. I know he's a first year coach, but he's still got some momentum and has put together a great staff with some really good recruiters (McCullough, Washington). Need to see more from Rees, Mickens, and O'Leary. I think Stuckey can be great, but the jury is still out. HH can do whatever he wants and ND will have a Top 5 OL class. Of course with MF doing a lot of the heavy lifting himself, that should pay dividends. If ND can land 5-star Dante Moore at QB, 5-star WR Carnell Tate at WR, and hold on to 5-star DE Keon Keeley - who Bama really, really wants - I think ND can win a title in the next 3 years. They need more Top 50 players - that's just the reality of it. Yes, Buchner's development is key, as is the development of the OL and guys like Styles, Colzie, and Diggs on offense, but ND really just needs more talent. It's getting their on defense (the 2022 LB haul, for example), but there are still some missing pieces. ND needs to get offensive playmakers, and they also need to get better players in the secondary. No to rile up Elder, but players like Hart - who I think is a solid player - and Lewis are not going to help ND win it all. The returns on the freshman class are concerning (haven't heard a peep about Barnes, Riley, Tucker, or Walters), but they still have spring practice and fall camp to make some moved.

  29. Well reasoned and laid out. I agree. 2022 QB recruiting was partly on Rees, but the majority was on BK. That is directly from insiders and the recruits themselves. When staying at ND, Rees asked for autonomy with the offense for a reason now that BK is gone. It's his time to put it all together. He needs to get some of these guys to ND spring practices and hopefully the spring game to show his offense and coaching, which he has had one true game in doing so top to bottom (OK State).

  31. I've been here awhile and I've seen a few instances where a single poster or a small group of posters damn near kills the entire board for everyone whether its by just bombing every thread with the same stuff over and over and over again or by being a little shitwhistle that just has to disagree with everyone and also rub everyone the wrong way. There have been a few times over the years where I'm like "man, this place SUCKS right now" and we've lost some really good posters along the way. Luckily we have people like Faith and Big who bring awesome info for almost as long as I can remember to keep the board at a somewhat useful level. No one is looking for an echo chambe @Kizer For President, but I do think everyone wants to have a thread not turn into "Steve Angelli Sucks" or "Every single Irish fan, at least in my own head, totally wants to go 0-12 but its ok because they like Freeman/Rees."

  33. Ehh, Everyone learns from everyone else. Great leaders should always be learning and helping round out their deficiencies, in this case on O. If you have a head coach that says he isnt learning, that would concern me. Previously he spent very little time in Offensive meetings. It makes sense for him to now. Much ado about nothing

  35. You can have the opinion that Angeli is a MAC level QB. Everyone gets that point and it been made many, many times. I personally will wait until I see his practices and game performance at the Under Armour All American game. I’d still wait for info coming out of spring practices. Angeli did not have a roster of great WR in HS. He likely did what he was asked to do, so it is wait and see for me. Also, his offer list is absolutely not MAC level. And no he isn’t Trevor Lawrence. Everyone wants a Trevor Lawrence but they do not come every year. Not just to ND but in an entire recruiting class. I do agree ND should and needs to aim higher, which has happened in 2023. They had a strong shot to land a high level QB in 2022 and BK chose not to communicate with the kid. We all have to wait for 2023 and let it play out.

  36. Photos I've seen of the Freeman family seem to show he has 6 kids. This job would be such a major grind when bringing up a family like that. To have to be on the road to recruit as much as he has been doing, well, I can't imagine how hard that would be on the family. Admirable, but wow.

  39. Ignore the schedule, he’s primed for another 11-1 season and has us in the hunt for the playoff. Between the injuries and shuffling on the offensive line, to the injuries at linebacker and safety, this has been a magnificent coaching job. We’ve all been there clamouring for a change after some of the debacles, however he was the top guy at the time. It is really tough to win at ND given the circumstances and he keeps doing it. Very few could do what he’s doing and when I look around at the college football landscape, there are only 4 programs doing it better on a consistent basis (OSU, Clemson, Bama, UGA and maybe OU). You see what’s going on at Florida, Texas, FSU, USC, etc… that’s much more likely to happen if we replace BK than greater success.

  42. Taking a different approach to this one. Instead of trying to hit every point I'm going to try to pick important topics Injuries Kyle Hamilton- ND still treating it week to week. Hamilton coached this week. The Rotations would be, Brown, Pryor, Wallace at FS. He did talk about Watts being crossed trained at safety and nickel as well. BK Indicated that Hamilton coached Watts in a player development way all week. Tyree- Got his normal reps on Thursday. UNC QB Howell- Spoke of him being an improved runner. The QB draw part of the RPO will need attention. Line games instead of straight up the field pass rush, zone instead of man coverage. UNC's Slot receiver is really good. Need to disguise coverage, tackle him after the catch, and help from top down when needed, 3rd down concerns Kelly.. Freeman plays man on 3rd down. Howell can run you out of man coverage so ND will play zone on 3rd down this week. On ND- Self Scout Still likes Coan at Tempo, thinks it helps him be decisive. Still not wanting to go super fast and be sloppy Still not a real heavy RPO offense. Were under Chip Long. ND runs more verticals then slants. Bonus Blake Fisher is ahead in rehab but Kelly doesn't sound like Blake will play this season. Advice needed: You guys tell me if you to try to do point by point when I really don't type fast enough OR If you want me to listen to the whole thing and do headings like today.
    6 points
  43. Coan was in two minute drill Wednesday is ahead of schedule all 3 getting reps. (Faith still doesn't think Coan will play much) Carmondy probable at LT Buchner back to pre-Purdue health. Has his package Hinish out. Cleared by specialist may play next week Freeman's defensive installation since spring has helped have gone against this defense since spring. Mike Denbrock is detailed, experienced and has a good mobile QB with great deep ball. Blake fisher is out for most if not all of the season Each of ND QBs are different. Use their strengths Pynes more mobile than Coan. Can find people on the move. Coan is better at progression reads Cross (DT) has great first step and heavy hands Lacey is also quick On QB Cincy Ritter, Puts the ball deep, excapes the pocket, running, still comparing to Perkins UVA 2015 They understand about protecting homefield. 2 top ten teams, heavy weight fight reference
