  2. Ok folks I'm a little amped for this game, completely sober, and wanted to get on this. This is our arch-rival and they are ripe for a plucking. I would love to dash their playoff hopes, though I wish they were undefeated(thanks Utah). The condoms are soft on D and cannot hold up against a strong run/clock eating offense(see Utah). They are opportunistic in takeaways. We have to play our game, to our offensive strengths that we really started to hone the second half of the season. Pound them with the three headed monster. Defensively, play sound football. If we control the clock with our offense, it keeps theirs off the field and our defense stays fresh. Its really that simple. Throw in great ST play. Riley's teams do not play well against fundamental power type teams. Campbell and Iowa State gave Oklahoma fits every time they played, because of the above formula. They want a track meet, and when they are thrown off their game plan they don't play well. Punch them in the mouth.

  3. I'm confident we win Saturday. We are going to see it all click for us and I also think the Trojans are going to underEstime us.

  4. To get us back on topic and to stop discussing other teams.... Expected to join the 24 class for Notre Dame Edit: I realize this is in the wrong year but it's better than the other nonsense going on in this thread

  5. I want Angeli. Not to run. But to run the offense. I don't care if he stinks. I want to see first hand what ND has.

  7. Was a horrible matchup for ND's defense. ND is built to play traditional offenses. As hard as Bertrand plays, he's a 4-3 thumper at best. Liufau can't really remember a more overhyped player on defense. With an average QB for USC, ND wins that game going away even with their inability to run the ball early.. I guess there's solace in knowing they lost because of a generational college QB. Looking forward to seeing what kinda roster CMF puts together and hopefully he profiles the right kinda players for defense as this offense looks more than serviceable to stay in some games with modest improvement. They need DL depth, LB athleticism that can play in the field.

  8. This game sucked so bad! Like, everything was so aggravating! Officiating first off. I thought the Stanford game was bad, but leave it to ACC refs to take it one step above! Second was the defense. I was waiting for them to step up, and they could not stop USC, especially Caleb. I can understand getting faked out once, but twice!? Come on!! Lastly was Pyne. He did what he could, and played okay, but those two turnovers were unacceptable! When Kirk said that Pyne will learn from this, on his interception, I yelled and was like, he better never f**ing play again!! I’m just so embarrassed, and pissed that Notre Dame lost to both Stanford and USC. It’s like they cannot get up for a rival game! And honorable mention…Caleb Williams is a total tool bag! Eff that dude! I hope Notre Dame watches this game and it haunts them the whole off season, then that lights a fire for next season, and then they destroy his a**!!

  10. Also I am really hoping for an OSU beatdown over Michigan. Payback for last season. Get Michigan completely out of the picture. Now excuse me while I go vomit for publicly rooting for the Buckeyes.

  11. I saw it (even a blind squirrel...) about 2 series before the commentator mentioned it - UCLA rarely set the edge. This let Williams and their HBs turn the corner and get upfield. Golden should be able to stuff that- he's done it well the last few games, and that will frustrate the SC offense. From what little I have read- they don't seem to use their tight end often which will mean that they will have to rely on chunk plays. Mr. Williams, meet Mr. Morrison (and I hope Mr. Joseph). Their DE Tuli Tulpuloto is very effective, but I wonder if he has faced OTs on the Alt and Fisher level. That bears watching - a good game within a game

  15. Obviously, there will be a lot of changes to this in the coming weeks/months, but I thought I'd get this started and update it as we went along. Curious to everyone's feedback on this: OFFENSE: QB (There's no way we keep 6 QB's on the roster, 1 or 2 will likely transfer, just don't know who. Transfer QB (I assume) Buchner or Pyne Minchey or Angeli RPIII RB Estime Diggs Price Payne Limar ATH (I added this b/c I think we have several guys that will fall into the RB or Slot, depending on formation) Tyree (If he stays) Love Edwards WR Styles Flores WR Colzie Merriweather Greathouse WR Transfer (I'd be surprised if we don't go after a top flight WR) Thomas James TE Evans Raridon Baumen (I could see him being the odd man out.) Berrong Staes Flanagan LT Alt Baker Chan Jaguash LG Spindler Schrauth Absher C Correll Coogan Otting RG Kristofic Craig Pendelton Terek RT Fisher Johnson Wagner DEFENSE VYP Botello (Maybe move Liufau here?) Ekwono Burnham Zinter DT Mills Cross Onye Ford Hinish NT Rubio Transfer? Keanaaina DE J. Ademilola (If he stays) NaNa Ehrensberger Gobaira Traore MLB Bertrand Tuihalamaka Ziegler Bowen WLB Kollie Liufau Ausberry ROV Sneed (I sure hope he can overtake Kiser with his athleticism) Kiser RS Joseph (I have a hunch he stays) Watts Shuler LS Bowen Henderson Minich CB Morrison Lewis Bellamy Gray CB Hart Mickey Bell

  16. I watched him play in the state semis last weekend. He was playing against a very good DL and was pushing guys around quite a bit. Had a few impressive pancakes as well

  17. Nothing else needs to be said. This is it. ND was owned the lines. The problem is they got so concerned with Williams that the running lanes opened up. If Williams wasn’t there this year, Riley is a 7 win coach with that team. If he’s lucky. The dude is going to win the Heisman for a reason. People need to go re-watch and look at the big picture. This is it. Great post.

  20. I appreciate how ND plays hard until the end. Colzie has looked very good the last couple of games. I think people need to remember that Freeman and Golden have never seen Riley’s offense. Good learning experience for them. They will make adjustments for next year. USC is going to crush the portal for offensive players now until Riley leaves. At the end of the day the game wasn’t changing the outcome of the season. Considering Pyne was the qb 8-4 is a solid record. Freeman has laid the foundation and now needs to put his stamp on the rest.

  22. Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. I have much to be thankful for this year just by having my family all back close to home again and my wife still by my side. I hope everyone is able to spend time with their loved ones and give thanks for even the littlest of things that we all may take for granted. You just never know what the future holds. Please take care of yourselves and enjoy the big and little things in life. God Bless you all.

  23. USC podcast thought that Riley has completely changed the culture. Where they were losing games in the past they are now winning. They have a lot of skill offensive talent and the qb is all world right now. The o-line is somewhat of a makeshift but they do ok keeping him upright. Or he does a good job keeping himself upright. Defensively, they don’t make sense. They are ranked far down in a lot of categories but one. Forcing turnovers. Somehow they are good at that and have kept them in games. They have one really good defensive end and that’s pretty much it. ND should be able to run on them. But who knows with this ND team. Most pundits think being at the Coliseum, ISC playing for a chance to get into the playoffs, and ND’s lack of firepower on offense that USC should win a close one. I think if ND comes to play it won’t be as close as some think.

  27. Two observations: #1 Freeman took 9 games to dominate (with a backup QB) a Top 5 (at the time) team; Kelly took 11 years to barely beat (with a multi year starter fourth round pick at QB) a Top 5 (at the time) team missing four of its best players in double OT. #2 Freeman dominated the current #10 CFP team while Kelly barely beat the #9 CFP team by 1 in OT . At the moment, Freeman's first nine games as HC is off to better start than Kelly's first nine games at ND which happened to be his 21st year as a HC: Freeman: 6-3 (6-4 if you count bowl game) and #20 ranking (with wins vs #10 and #15) - First shared recruiting class #9 and second class currently ranked #3 Kelly: 4-5 (no wins vs ranked teams) - First shared recruiting class #15 and second class was #9

  29. Fiske and McCullough would be a homerun for the DL. Fiske appears to be Irish and should decide around New Years McCullough seems to be down to ND and Ohio State. There are some they say Oklahoma is involved, but there are some insiders that do not trust the Oklahoma hype around him. IB says it is 50/50 between ND/OSU

  33. Too early for me... not trying to make my head hurt lol... My only shallow comments.. Hope the iOL has some shuffles, and the youth passes some vets. Hope Bertrand is replaced... I think we'll see several transfers (out) this offseason. Hot take for 2023... Early entry Minchey is starter game 1

  37. That USC QB is pretty good and seems awfully self-assured. Seems like ND will have to spy him and play man defense. Morrison will surely be tested again. Big game, big spotlight. Need a strong 4 man rush with pressure on the QB without loosing containment. If the O line can hold up, could be a good evening all the way around for the offense. USC has talent on D but it doesn’t look like it has coalesced yet this year. It is a winnable game. And that would cure my mind and body of the aches still lingering from the Marshall and Stanford games. If the potential of a team and coach are judged by their best victories, beating Clemson and USC in Freeman’s first year would seem to indicate the sky is the limit.

  38. I missed the 1st quarter. Not much to complain about. Good game plan and was executed well. Very happy to see the team finish out a game and not let hope sneak in for an opponent. Slammed the door on BC today. Morrison is a gamer and will get better. Congrats to Foskey for career sacks leader. Congrats to Mayer for 2000 career yards making him #1 in all ND TE categories. Nice to see some youngins get some PT, there's talent there for next season. Thank you seniors! Congrats on going out with a win at home in a blizzard while stomping BC. Now let's kick the Trojan's butt!!

  41. If we don't get a '23 QB (which seems likely), we need two transfers in my opinion, a grad transfer and hopefully an undergrad (I know it's unlikely but I still don't get why Jack can't make this happen with admissions). The grad transfer will play '23. At this point, I'm just not confident we have a championship QB on the current roster. Which means we need an undergrad to come in and compete for a couple years (likely meaning Pyne and/or Buchner transfer) so Carr can redshirt and be play in '25. I still can't believe were in this position, ugh.
