Default Stanford game attendance

Stanford only had 31,622 fans in their 50,000 stadium. I know that they typically have poor attendance. This number somewhat shocked me considering their recent success and that they were playing for their first pack 12 title in almost 15 years.

Does anyone have any insight on why they have such poor attendance?

It was raining.

People in California don't handle rain well.

How does such a tough team have such wimpy fans?

Yes. This is the reason why my half an hour commute took an hour longer than normal last night. We get a little bit of rain and the roadways just stop like a blizzard went through or something.

I live in LA, and I can vouch for this

I was wondering this.. The stadium did not look that empty lastnight. Maybe they just let some people in for free late.. I figured 10k or so didn't show up..

The game also kicked off at 5 pm on the West Coast, right in the middle of a Friday traffic jam. That probably had something to do with it too.
