Welcome to Notre Dame, Mr. Decker.

A year in the weight room (he looks like he needs it) and this kid will be humongous . . .

Welcome Mr. Decker! Nice pick-up for us, he definitely sounds like someone who really likes ND. To the weight room with him!

270 or 290 who cares? By the time he see's the field (probably 2 years) he'll be way beyond both of those marks. Another good pick-up and another kid that just loves ND. Gotta like that..................

Here's a couple of tidbits from an article on ISD:

On Friday, he decided, “Why wait?”

“I really started talking with my parents last night about how Notre Dame has always been my top school and everything,” the 6-foot-8, 285-pounder said. “Like I said, I almost committed right away and I don’t think I’ll be able to keep it back because that’s the one I’ve been waiting for.”

Decker has set his one unofficial to South Bend for next Wednesday and will be back in town when the Irish start spring practice on March 23rd. He will not be taking those trips to Ann Arbor, Evanston or Madison anymore. Decker called each coach and they appreciated his honesty.

here's a quote from duane long (GOOD STUFF)--buckeye recruiting expert who knows the players in his area very well

" I like several offensive lineman at this early point but they are all taking a BACKSEAT to Taylor THE WRECKER Decker from vandalia-butner '!

Taylor is also a STANDOUT BASKETBALL PLAYER he is very athletic and explosive---he must TRULY BE A BEAST because he wanted to major in ZOOLOGY!!--i don't know if we offer that but damn he like ANIMALS which is what you would expect from a BEAST HIMSELF at 6/8 or more!

SOMEBODY BETTER GET GOLSON SOME CUSTOM LIFTS FOR HIS SHOES!

Very pleased with this very coachable OFFENSIVE TACKLE OF THE FUTURE!

aloha's go irish!!

Lots of ohio state recruitnicks are disappointed that they were TOO SLOW to offer---many really loved the potential of Decker the Wrecker---many of them saw him playing basketball and being a beast in the paint---They are disapointed because because taylor GREW UP AN OSU FAN---and they really really like him as a player---see my DUANE LONG QUOTE previous post----felt they could have been a big factor if they moved earlier---but are resigned after hearing Taylor's remarks about ND that hs is GONE!

my thoughts too as soonas I saw 15/16 offers were to OL's of 6'6 or bigger practically. we probably don't want to field a team of 6'2" O-linemen, but some of the guys we bring in are going to have to play guard/center. we can't get too length obsessed.

Well I truly hope that he is firmly in ND's camp, but time will tell and anything can happen between now and LOI day.

Man, Decker only just committed today and I've already started accidentally calling him Taylor Dever. Luckily, Dever graduates after next year...

Don't think its gonna happen, and don't think he's gonna budge even if he did. I know, I know, you live in Ohio and you're entitled to your opinions. I'd save your trepidation for Shepard or some of the other Ohio kids, but not this guy. The allure of playing in Ohio State is one thing, but from the way he interviews, I don't think he's that interested in Ohio State in the first place, and I think ND is his dream offer through and through. He's going to be like Carrico, solid and steady for the next 11 months. Leave the hemming and hawing for Odenigbo, Strobel, and McMullen.

Ohio State didn't offer Carrico and Brad is literally in their backyard at Dublin Coflin. It was easy for him to not waver with his commitment when he didn't have a Buckeye offer to pounce on so I wouldn't use that as some sort of great example.

This kid doesn't have a Buckeyes offer either, but there's a *long* way to go before LOI day and OSU badly needs offensive line recruits. If they want him, they'll offer him. There is plenty of reason to be concerned as far as I'm concerned. State U offers mean something to just about every kid in any state. If Michigan offers a Michigan kid, they're going to look at it. Same with Pennsylvania kids and Penn State or Texas kids and Texas.

Bennett Okotcha didn't have an Oklahoma offer when he came to ND and once he got it, he was out the door so fast it made our heads spin. Cam McDaniel said he grew up wanting to play for Texas, but you know why he signed with Notre Dame instead? Because Texas didn't offer him.

I guess you didn't read what I typed.

OSU hasn't offered him yet. It's March 4th, 2011. They have until Feb 2, 2012 to offer him and they badly need offensive linemen.

If they want this kid, they'll offer him. And I'm willing to bet you a cookie that he looks at that offer any probably even takes a visit to Ohio State.

Take your Notre Dame glasses off for a second. This is not me calling the kid a waffler or calling the kid anything. That's me saying that Home State U came with an offer to stay close to home and play football in front of his family, friends and probably his girlfriend. Frankly, he'd be an idiot *not* to look at that possibility because it's a huge one that he doesn't have as of this moment.

Whenever Notre Dame gets a commitment from a kid who doesn't have an offer from Home State U, there is reason to be concerned. Recruiting doesn't end when a kid commits and if that school decides to come around and offer him, there is reason to be concerned. It's easy for a 17 year-old to say a lot of things when he doesn't have the other big option to choose from.
