Default Lenzy a starter!

after today it looked like Lenzy was the starting X receiver

Note: In Kelly's offense the W is the playmaker spot currently Occupied by Chase Claypool, but the X is the playmaker in the making position. Note Claypool was the X to Boykins W last year.

Him coming in motion opened things up like crazy, wondering why we didnít show that look more this season.

Speed in motion takes the defense's eyes of their keys and messes with things. Lenzy had a variety of health issues throughout the season, everything from a concussion to a lowered immune system so it was nice to see him get so many snaps later in the season, must be feeling better.

He looks pretty amazing. If I were the coaches, I would ask him to put on 5 to 8 lbs of good weight. The incentive would be that I will play you at all WR spots as well as occasional RB & wildcat QB snaps. Get the ball in his hands in creative ways and he will be an excellent decoy when not used.

In this era of pace and space football SPEED is a must. Lenzy gives us hidden yards of space from the defenders which can be used for other players.

Even as a decoy, the fear of speed, changes the aggressiveness of the defense.

Bama just gave up 48 points, in this speed, spread offense era

And that number - 25 brings back memories of the one and only Rocket! Certainly, ND has not had someone who looks like the Rocket wearing number 25 since then but Lenzy might just be Rocket II!

Thats ok. Imagine next year. Lenzy in motion, Tryee running the counter the other direction. Simple first down hand off goes for 40 yards.

Rockets best 100- 10.2 thatís damn close to Olympic speed. Lenzy has a PR of 10.62, which is still flying, but not close to a 10.2. Not only was Rocket ridiculously fast, he got there very quickly.

Not many are as fast as Rocket. Waddle from Alabama is somewhere close I think.

Jon Ross who broke the combine 40 time ran a 10.33 100 m, Waddle was at 10.66... so thatís a little slower then Lenzyís PR... to think Rocket was .13 Faster then Ross is pretty incredible.
Waddle is very fast , and ND having a player with the same type of speed at WR could be a blessing. Letís hope he turns into the receiver Waddle has. If I had to guess , Lenzy and waddle are 4.35 guys.. Rocket and Ross are 4.2 flat guys.. Deon Category...

Yes Lenzy is a weapon with that speed. I think he would have the top end speed of a Will Fuller, but Fuller was so quick also. Iím not sure of this however. I havenít seen top end speeds of the two to compare. When Lenzy hits full speed nobody can keep up with him. I couldnít find much on Will Fuller as far as high school track either, to see if his speed improved in college etc.

I always wonder if Rocket goes straight to the NFL, if he is looked at and used differently. Only player I can think of(not as a person) to his speed and quickness is Tyreek Hill. Not only top end, but so so quick also, itís almost unfair.

Schematically it puts his defender on his heels making it harder, to drive on a route for an interception or a pass break-up, also even making harder to stop under control to defend a route that cuts one way or another.

Lenzy as soon as he got that long jet sweep vs USC on film also effects the width of the defense.

If 11 are spread wider Kmet has more room, the running backs have more room.

That safety becomes more likely to help to Braden's side.

I could go on an on but speed helps ALOT.

Lenzy ran a 4.4 in the summer. Hes not as fast as Fuller who ran a 4.32. I can't say rockets 40 numbers as those were hand times. My guess is he was between 4.3 and 4.35. Waddle ran in the 4.2s at Alabama in the summer

Remember 100m times don't translate with 40 times. So that isn't the best comp

I agree, 100m times do not translate to 40 times... I look at 100m times to judge pure speed. It shows the top end speed more, where as 40 times show quickness more often then top end speed. Top end Lenzy may be close to Fuller is all I was trying to say, but Fuller was much quicker.

Lenzy reminds me of a lighter Golden Tate. Needs to gain 15, but he has RB skills in weaving through.

Waddle of Bama reminds me of Tate. Hard to get a good hit on and you knew every time he touched it they were trying to take it to the house. You never knew what could happen. Iím not quite their with Lenzy, but good comparison.
