Interesting that only Vandy offered out of the SEC considering he has a very good offer list otherwise.

Great pick up! I am guessing the timing was coincidental. I think the staff can ask recruits to hold off to wait for a particular time such as after losing out on your top prospect!

Mickens showing his recruiting chops early. He was a great hire by Kelly, no doubt about it.

Yeah, this really seems to boil down to wanting to play in a different location with a different type of school experience. West coast kid that likes warm weather.

Well maybe we can flip Johnson. Would like to land Wright too. Any shot at that?

Huge loss. He was a Top 5 commit, if not Top 3. Would have been the most talented CB commit in a long time - no way around it.

Still a shot at Ceyair Wright, but borderline long shot. Looks like USC or Stanford for him.

ND will probably turn up the heat on the NW commit - Teran Johnson.

Still like the DB class of Tucker, Barnes, and Walters. But no way around it - this is a huge blow for ND.

I think you're overating him a bit for sure, but we'll see in the future.

I had him at best 6th recruit

Definitely a loss but Mickens and Joseph have time to find a quality guy to take his place.

We have Bracy, Lewis, Hart, Rutherford, Henderson and Offord with years of eligibikity left.

We have Barnes and Tucker committed.

Its not really a position of great need. He'd be a nice piece but we're not in bad shape at corner

I think it just depends on how you view those guys. Bracy and Lewis seem like starters/future starters. Hart has good size but hasn't done anything in live action. Rutherford was highly rated, but isn't on the two deep. I think Henderson was a better WR prospect - I can't see him playing CB at an elite college level, but hope he proves me wrong. Offord was a properly rated 3-star.

Love Barnes - so did Clemson - but he is a safety all the way. I think Tucker is very underrated. Very happy to have him.

I just think Riley is a legit Top 200/Top 150 recruit. And in today's college football, you need great DBs. I think Riley would have been a Top 5 recruit. I understand the optimism with ND's current CBs/CB recruits, but there aren't a lot of proven commodities. Riley is a legitimate Top 15 CB recruit. IMO, no way around it - this is a big loss.

You're right, it all depends on how you view the current guys/commits. I see Bracy and Lewis as starters. I think Hart and Rutherford even have more talent than those 2 but need some workwhich they will get throughout this year and spring. That is a talented 3 and 4. And they're only RS frosh this year. I like Tucker a lot and thibk he has more long term potential than Riley imo.

We'll see about Henderson and Offord. They have attributes and we have a developmental coach in Mickens.

Barnes is most likely a safety. But I think Rileys best position in college might be safety too.

If we land Wright or Johnson I think we'll be fine with the loss of Riley.

I think we have 5 elite commits in this class and didnt think Riley was on their level

Philip riley just committed to USC. stinks that he went with our rival but with him committing to USC does this help ND with wright (usc has five DBs in this class).
