Exactly! Everyone situation is different but if he ends up at LSU then I am less inclined to believe that all these ND losses are about kids wanting to stay close to home. Something doesn’t seem to be adding up. We are to believe that one recruiting weekend is all that was going to be needed to reel this top players in?

This happened a while back. ND, OSU, Michigan, and several others had backed off on him a little bit due to injuries. But he had a really solid junior year and was looking good physically. Teams had started warming back up to him and LSU swooped in. We shall see.

I agree they would not have gotten them all but they could literally miss on all of them now, which I don't think would have happened if they got together with Fisher, Buchner, Shipley, Rubio, Styles, and more.

Big, what are the thoughts on the new OL offers (Benny and Coogan)? Measurable seem good for both.

More of a project compared to the others. First glance says their ceiling may not be as high but both are and can be very good football players. If they Land someone like Spindler or equal along with two others then no worries.

He had a conversation with the coaches. Right now I’d have no worries.

Big, is the general thought process that if Jason Onye commits, they’ll be done on the d-line? Or do you think they’ll take two more?

Great question. I think spring ball may have helped answer that so I'm honestly not sure.

It's been reported before, but here is another article where Will Shipley says he won't make a decision until he gets back to ND. Really good sign.

Blake Fisher has been recruiting him hard. Really, really want this kid. The Mcaffery comparisons are warranted.

He is a legit high 4-star/5-star RB. Clemson really wants him, which is enough for me.

The extension of the dead period really hurts ND, though. Hopefully they are communicating with him enough behind the scenes and giving him all the information he needs. Last year when Tyree was set to commit to Oklahoma, the ND coaches did a great job of talking him out of it and telling him to take his time. I know Taylor is doing that right now - telling him not to rush it. But it sounds like Shipley really wants the process to be over with. Hopefully he stays true to what he said and waits to commit until he takes that visit to ND. If he does, he should be ND's to lose.

I read an article that claimed C. Long was a large reason for recruiting success on the offensive side. Apparently he was relentless which proved to be an asset in one way and led to his departure in other ways.

I don't know if the staff catches wind of articles like that but it should be a wake up call for Rees. I always pictured his personality and leadership abilities really resonating with recruits. It's obviously a challenging year in every way but I'm hoping ND can finish strong for 2021.

Relentless is the only way to be. It is obvious that Dabo, Saban and Urban when he was coaching want to win at everything they do especially recruiting. The Kelly regime has been a nice step up from the last 3 head coaches but they are not recruiting at the level Lou did in his first 7 years and that's what it takes for ND to win in the playoffs. I hope Kelly proves me wrong and wins an NC but it feels like a huge uphill battle when you compare NDs recruiting to Bama, Clemson, OSU, Georgia and even OU.

You do not think that Brian Kelly is "relentless" when it comes to recruiting?

According to the linked interview from this past February, BK stated that he might be actually be working less at recruiting than in previous years.

Quote:
if you look at my schedule, it’s probably the same or less than it’s ever been in years past -Brian Kelly
So maybe the uptick in Offensive talent in the 2020 class was due to Chip Long and not Brian Kelly.

You would think a young guy like coach rees would be relentless on the recruiting trail, especially with the fact that he has something to prove.
