Default Harrison Leonard - Walk-on Kicker

Guy is getting some attention at camp.

https://kohlskicking.com/player-prof...rrison-leonard

The most significant transformation that Harrison Leonard insists he has made since the last time Notre Dame head football coach Brian Kelly saw him in person seven months ago has to do with a book about tennis.

Which is quite an assertion, given that the 5-foot-11 kicker from Jamestown, R.I., has powered up to the tune of 28 pounds, to 208, since taking his official recruiting visit to ND and connecting with Irish director of football performance Matt Balis for the first time.

“My kickoffs are deeper,” he said in a telephone interview this week. “The ball just comes off my foot a lot more strongly.”

His greatest strength, however, is above the eyebrows, he said, thanks in part to “The Inner Game of Tennis,” a book authored by Harvard English Lit major-turned tennis pro Tim Gallwey and originally released in 1972, roughly three decades before Leonard was born.

We've been spoiled to have had Yoon the past four seasons. Hopefully a K steps up and shows consistency in practice which can translate over to games too.

Man, and I thought I was spoiled with Jim Sanson as the kicker when I was in school....

Kid looked impressive yesterday. He just may be our guy this year and for future ones. Definitely someone to keep an eye on in camp.

I'll be surprised if he doesn't win the job over Doerer.

Doerer is just too inconsistent, hate seeing him on the field.

I must be the only person terrified of the term “walk-on kicker.” I conjures up images of some poor shmuck from UTEP missing a winning kick 20 yards to the left or right.

#8 kicker in the country with an upward trajectory. Looking promising.

Whoever the kicker is will need to make 1-2 big kicks this year. ND is a 10 win team regardless of who kicks. They might be an 11-12 win team if their kicker makes every kick in Athens and Ann Arbor.

The kicker won't ruin the season, but they might make it special.

Can't be worse than Doerer. That guy was appalling last year.

For me it conjures up Reggie Ho nailing a bunch of field goals to beat Michigan in one of the first ND games I can remember watching. I'm getting old.
