Default 2019 Season Predictions

I'll go with Barton Simmons. Tough Schedule. He said 11-1. What say you?

Go Irish!

Talented experienced QB .. Strong Dline ,, Solid OLINE Some good stuff at WR,,

Running attack likely will not be as good as it has been lots of questions in the back half of the defense as well

Positives should give us a strong shot at 10-2 I don't expect it to be easy though

Too early. Need to get through camp with no injuries, look at the depth chart now that all players are here and so forth. That said, for now, 12-0! GO IRISH!

10-2 - NY6 Bowl

Wish I was more confident in 11-1, but the road games are a nightmare and I've seen that story before. Winning at UGA will be extremely difficult. I think we can win at Michigan (ND is coming off a bye and UM will have just played at Penn State), but that will be a tough environment. Stanford is a borderline Top 25 team at best, but ND hasn't won in Palo Alto since 2007. There were several years where ND had the better team and still couldn't win.

I think Virginia and Virginia Tech will be the toughest games. UVA mostly because it's the week after UGA. VT because they have a lot of talent coming back and it's after Michigan.

I think USC will be tougher than people think. I can't remember the last time people thought a win over SC was a foregone conclusion in the preseason, but this year, it seems like nobody thinks it's even in the top half of ND's toughest games.

Louisville - W (41-20)
BYE
New Mexico - W (48-14)
@ Georgia - L (28-38 )
Virginia - W (31-27)
Bowling Green - W (46-21)
USC - W (41-34)
BYE
@ Michigan - L (35-38 )
Virginia Tech - W (45-31)
@ Duke - W (49-21)
Navy - W (42-28 )
Boston College - W (37-24)
@ Stanford - W (42-36)

ND makes a NY6 Bowl. Impossible to predict a W/L because it all depends on the opponent. Would like to see ND get Texas, Washington/Oregon, LSU/Florida, etc. rather than Ohio State or Georgia/Alabama.

I could see ND beating Georgia and all bets are off on how many wins. I could also see them losing to Georgia and snowballing with losses to Virginia and USC. This schedule is very manageable but could also be landline heíll if not prepared properly.

9-3 Music City Bowl

When looking at this team I really don’t many concerns on offense, in fact I think this is going to be the best offense of the Kelly era. I believe with Book leading the way and the returning linemen it could be very special. At WR behind Finke and Claypool there’s a lot of unproven talent but with their speed I believe they will give defenses fits this season. The RBs will lose a little bit but not much with the departure of Williams. I think paired with the improving line there won’t be too big of a drop in production.

Where I do have concerns is on the defensive side of the ball. We know how good our DEs are going to be and how well they’re able to pressure quarterbacks. My biggest concern is the interior defensive line and will they be able to slow down the run game against Georgia, Stanford, and even Michigan this season. My other concern is the linebacker position, no question there is good but of talent their but it’s young and unproven. Also nickel is a concern to me.

Louisville - W (42-17)
BYE
New Mexico - W (48-10)
@ Georgia - L (38-24)
Virginia - W (31-24)
Bowling Green - W (52-17)
USC - W (38-31)
BYE
@ Michigan - W (1,000-0)
Virginia Tech - L (28-26)
@ Duke - W (45-27)
Navy - W (49-20)
Boston College - W (28-17)
@ Stanford - L (35-31)

11-1 Georgia at Georgia will just be to much. But the team will have character and not let a loss to Georgia ruin the rest of their season!

I have to agree with 9-3. Losing 2 of the 3 big road games (UGA, UM, STANFORD) and an upset. I do believe after the last 2 seasons they are primed to take the next step and be in a competitive game against a top tier talented team like Georgia. If they go toe to toe with the Bulldogs then I think 11-1 is possible. If that happens we should see back to back playoff appearances.

True that.
But, other than Clemson the schedule looks very do-able. And ND will have some great defensive players who will have matured and had meaningful playing time. Their offense I think will be the best it has been in a long long time.

Other than Clemson...

I've moved from thinking 10-2 to 11-1 (had them losing to Michigan). Maybe I've been swayed by all the positive vibes above, maybe I just need more coffee

Just realized that could be our next possible "rush the field" upset victory.. damn I need to get tickets to that one

We're getting down the line here....But will Book be back? Will our d-line be as deep as it is right now-at least the ends? I can see it being a very talented team though. It really depends on if Book comes back, which if he was smart, he would.

Why wouldnít Book come back. I donít think he is an NFL QB talent. I think he will stay.

If he has a good year itís hard not to listen to the chaos of agents, family, friends and the NFL whispering in your ear.

Iíve been saying 10-2 for awhile and Iím gonna stick with that. Could easily see better though. For my money this team is closer to 11-1/12-0 then it is 9-3 assuming injuries donít come crashing down.

The way I see it, the offense has a good chance to be as good as the defense was last year, and even with the losses of a few stars on defense, this team has plenty remaining on that side of the ball.

Which four would you rather have?

Tillery, Coney, Tranquill, Love?

Or

Okwara, Kareem, Gilman, Elliott?

I think thatís a tough question to answer

I’m going with 11-1 or 10-2 with losses at Georgia and/or Michigan.

I actually think we might be better than last year but those are some pretty tough road games.

It all comes down to Book, has he hit his ceiling or does he have room to grow? He was a game manager last year, if he doesn’t become ‘that guy’ then we’re gonna get the same results against the Clemson’s and Bama’s of the world.
