Default Any Word on Eric Dungey?

I tried looking up any news on him but haven't seen any updates at all

I genuinely hope he's alright. The tackle seemed really basic to me with no one even near his back so I'm wondering what happened

But I definitely understand that even the simplest of movements can eff up your back (I've thrown out my back from coughing lol)

I've been looking, too. I live in the area and some friends commented that they heard his career is over. There has been no official news, yet, that I can see.
I'm guessing this "rumor" might just mean his SU career is over, not his football career.

All speculation, but as you said, the sequence didn't look like anything dramatic happened.

There was NY Post article that suggested his Cuse career was over, but it wasn’t confirmed anywhere.

If his SU career is over, then his football career is probably over.

Tirico indicated he would be a Pro. Take that FWIW.

Yea I saw that too...that's tough if it's true

Any doctors on here that can comment on the injury based on how he reacted?

Reading that he hasn't been able to walk on his own and it could be a fairly serious back injury. No official word yet but he had to be carted and carried on to team bus. This is being reported by multiple sites.

Very weird. He didn't even really get hit on the play from what I saw.

Supposedly a nerve injury.

That would make sense from the way he reacted.

Nope. I had that. It doesn’t make you go down like that.

Yeah, I saw him and figured pinched nerve (sciatic). Hope he's better quickly.

Tirrico is a 'Cuse homer. Ive never hear him so invested in the ND opposition. Usually that's flutie's job. ND needs to get some announcers that pimp the team like the SEC guys on CBS do for them. It matters.

Not a doctor but I work in this field everyday. Hard to really say until he had an mri or an actual checkup. But, the weakness down the leg looks as you said “sciatic pain.” Numbness or weakness down the leg. At the hip area where he was holding probably is L3-L4. It even looked like he mouthed the words “my back.” If it was a compression fracture(which would seem weird on that hit) he’s probably getting a kyphoplasty. My guess is a bulging disc. Where if it is contained could ha e injections and hopes the body takes it and slowly dissolves it. Or a discetomy-a small incision in the back and is cleaned out. We also do endoscopies but it depends on what he has. Not many docs do endoscopies...

Tirrico did go to Syracuse so not a surprise that he was pulling for them

Prayers for the young man. I saw reports 2 days ago that there were concerns his career was over. Fortunately, an article from the AP referencing their coach was focused on whether he'll be ready for BC.

I agree. I've sneezed so hard I can feel my vertebrae crack and feel a pinch in my sciatica. He got up fine, looked fine, but it just takes the slightest of movements and your back goes out.

For sure hoping he's ok and good to go against BC.

You got to love Dino for his honesty. Last night on the local news he said that Eric, him and Danny ( the back up QB) were in the hot tub yesterday (Monday) together game planning for BC. When asked how did Eric get in? He said the same way he and Danny did. He walked in by himself. Dino said it still has not been decided who will be the starting QB against BC. And he would not answer questions about the injury.

Done the same thing coughing or sneezing before. I'm a big, muscular guy and those muscles can really help stabilize the back, but those sudden "explosive" movements can pop a vert out of place or even strain a muscle.

Back pain sucks.

I was impressed with his praise of ND after the loss in his press conference, indicating that ND is clearly in the top 4 teams in the country.

I've got recurring piriformis syndrome, similar to sciatica but it's where the sciatic nerve runs behind the piriformis muscle in your backside, not in the spine itself.

It didn't take much the first time it flared up for me almost twenty years ago, it was just the way I moved and turned at the waist while working. If I feel it start to flare up now, I immediately start taking an NSAID, usually Naproxen or the generic equivalent.

Anyway, that's good news for the young man.
