those are good ones.

I'd add (not in any order-before I joined here they all ran together, now I pay much closer attention)

Justin Tuck
Jarius Jackson
Joey Getherall
Julius Jones
Kevin Mcdougal
Lee Bection
Ron Powlus- I know you all have different opinions, but without him being in my local area I would never have known about ND at all.
Mark Edwards
Jerome Bettis- Jerome was before me but the highlights were fresh.

The first players I really remember loving growing up were Autry Denson and Allen Rossum. I really liked Antown Jones, a dlineman from around the same time because he gave me his gloves after a blue and gold game. My mom later framed them along with a ton of players from that team's autographs. Under 10 year old me loved it.

Couple years after them I loved Shane Walton, Vontez Duff and Rocky Boiman. I vividly remember not liking Ryan Grant, but I was a dumb kid so who knows why?

I loved Darius Walker from that first Charlie Weis team. I still remember Weis calling about 1,000 screens in a row for Walker than opening game against Pitt and every one of them seemingly worked. It was hard not to like Samarzjda and Quinn. Derek Landri and Trevor Laws were both phenomenal college lineman that both had a "motor." I think Laws may have led the team in tackles his senior year from his DT spot on a pretty crappy defense, but I may be making that up.

Floyd and Tate were both so fun to watch and I still think if Tate would have come back for his senior year it would have made Kelly look a lot better.

Teo, Nix and Tuitt were all awesome. I remember watching Golson warm up next to Tommy one of his first games and just being amazing at the velocity Golson threw the ball with with just a flick of his wrist, where as Tommy would get his whole body into it and the ball would float.

This was the first year in a while where the players that were my favorites were on defense. Julian Love, Julian Okwara and Coney were all fun to watch.

I just went by era rather than year by year, but I kind of answered the question..

I wish I would’ve been a little older to remember these guys....I’ve probably watched most of the Irish games since 85 or so because my grandfather recorded them and gave them to me to watch....but it was around 2001 when I actually watched those games....those teams were awesome to watch....Rocket and Bettis were certainly miraculous in college

This is awesome, you guys are true fans! Unfortunately, my memory fails me, but you guys hit on so many, even reminded me of the fun times watching Joey getherall returning kicks against number 1 Nebraska. God, that was great! I’d throw in a John Goodman joke here, but I’d rather mention how I saw Joey getherall and grant irons at the insight bowl (I guess they were in town for the Oregon state fiesta bowl?) hanging out to together and randomly walked over by our seats. Grant was obviously a lot bigger than Joey, but damn Grant irons was a ton of fun to watch.

If I can throw some of the less heralded players out here:

So many guys on the defensive line that played with so much heart - Derek Landri, Chris Frome and Trevor Laws.

Linebackers - Rocky Boiman, Brandon Hoyte, Maurice Crum.

If I went through old rosters, I’m sure I’d be able to add to this.

Tim Brown was the reason I became a fan. 1986 vs USC was when I first witnessed his greatness! Hooked on ND football since that day

I have been following Notre Dame football since the mid 60's. Too many players to try to list.
All time favorites would have to be Montana & Rocket.

I want to post the video. I can't figure out how to embed it though. But if someone could post the video of Tommy Z returning the punt for a touchdown against USC in '05, that would be awesome.

Still the best college football game I have ever been to. The most electric Notre Dame crowd I have ever been a part of. That play will forever be ingrained in my memory. After that touchdown, I was convinced ND was going to win. Actually, when they came out in the green jerseys, I was convinced.

F**k USC.

Similar to ndmike, there are too many to name since I became a fan in '88.

A few of my favorites: Rocket, Zoro, Bryant Young, Aaron Taylor, Zibby, Manti, Faine, Tuck, Q. Nelson, and Zach Martin. I got a soft spot for the big uglies.

I’d agre on Zorich, and use him to replace one of my two Rocket years (89 specifically)

And I’d throw some love to Derrick Mayes.

I was there in 1989, the year he was suspended after making All American. He played dorm football.

How would you like to run through the offensive line of your dormmates and right into Stonebreaker?
