As a Canadian watching from the outside, curious to know how Trump supporters are feeling about recent events. Still feel as strongly as you did when you voted him in?

The country is divided straight down party lines with neither side caring for what the other has to say and neither party trusting the other. A sad day in US political times IMO. No change on Trump supporters. |

Utterly fascinating looking from the outside in...

I never liked him as a person, but I can’t stand the Democratic Party as is. I may vote for Biden since he’s more moderate, but any other Dem is a no go. I work hard for my $ and I want to keep it. I’m not having 5% of my pay go to free college just some little s**thead can major in Gender Studies for free. So, it’s very likely I’ll vote for Trump again.
If anyone followed last week’s elections in the UK, it proves how out of touch the Left is with normal society. We don’t want socialism or laws dictated by identity politics. |

It's really an interesting time.
When I go to a Dallas Cowboys football game, the stadium is packed with people of all colors, nationalities, creeds, and languages. All of the people are cheering for the team. They're not cheering for the white guys on the team or the black guys on the team or the Latino guys on the team. Just the team. That's what America really is to me. We just have so much social media and mainstream media focusing on the differences between people rather than the commonalities between people. I hate what I perceive media of all stripes has done to this country in the interest of getting clicks and advertisers. Create stories on the extremes, rather than write about interests the majority. That's politics and that's the media in the USA today. And while people on either side of the political spectrum may interpret this post in their own way, rest assured that I am not sitting far to one side or the other of the political fence. |

Very accurate. Regardless of how good of a person Trump is, this impeachment is ridiculous. It is completely partisan and the trial in the House was completely unfair and they proved absolutely nothing. The forefathers and Presidents that have followed stated they never wanted a partisan impeachment. Even the democrats said that early on, but they went through it anyway. Now Pelosi is going to hold the articles because she knows it will fail in the Senate.
I hate Pelosi (D) in the House, I hate McConnell (R) in the Senate, and I hate Schiff (D) and Nadler (D) throughout the "trials" in the House. Anyone who understands probable cause and as ever sworn out a warrant before knows there is not enough PC for a warrant on these accusations if it was a normal civilian. This will hurt the Democratic party next year I think. I dislike Trump, but this charade the House put on was an embarrassment to the country. Last edited by NDhoosier; 12-19-2019 at 08:30 PM. |

There are some people I know who are staunch Republicans that have never liked him since the primary debates, but most continue to rally behind him no matter what. I work with a lot of his fans, and I honestly don't think there's anything he could do/say that can change that because of the "us against the haters" feeling. (I'm not making any judgements BTW...I'm a down the middle guy.....so I'm just telling you what I observe.) Last edited by NDNorm; 12-20-2019 at 02:26 PM. |

I registered as a Republican for the 1992 election (my first). I changed to an independent about 3 months ago.
Ideologically, I'm center-right, a moderate. Last cycle, I pulled for John Kasich to give you a tangible idea of my leanings. I ended up writing in Bernie as a protest to Clinton (couldn't do it) and I was in the never-Trump camp. If Trump is the paragon for the modern Republican, I'm out.

If you are asking based solely on the impeachment, I still stand by my vote. The entire affair is beyond BS. Keep watching is all I will say...

Trump has spent a 100 plus million dollars of taxpayer dollars at his own golf courses and hotels. His foreign policy is partly dictated by his business holdings and personal gain and opportunity. He flies his diplomats, cabinet members and military members to his hotels and resorts and profits, even when those places arent on the way. Foreign dignitaries stay at his hotels and resorts in order to gain favor. Often times renting out entire floors that go unused. He has refused to fully divest himself from his holdings and refuses to show his tax returns, thereby preventing the public from knowing about where all his personal interests lie.
His 100 plus tweets a day are incoherent and mindless. He shows no restraint or ability to think rationally. He spends most of his days tweeting and watching television. He cares more about ratings than anything else, because he measures success on being well liked and popular. He has no real positions. He does and says whatever he thinks will make him popular. He withheld money apportioned by Congress and never told them about it and refused to meet with an allied leader. He did so to put pressure on that country to open an investigation on a political opponent. Any other President would be long gone by now. But as others have said, Republicans will support him no matter what. They actually think hes rooting out corruption. What Trump is good at is fooling people by yelling and screaming and accusing others of everything he does. People buy his act and hes great at it. The guy could sell you ice in Alaska with little effort. He will be acquitted and re-elected because Americans are infatuated with his money and power. He is what Americans define as success, especially the Boomer generation.

Nothing will happen. The senate won’t impeach him. It’s all about PR for the 2020 election.

Republicans will be able to claim, “The ba$tard$ impeached the duly elected President”. It is about PR. If Trump wins in 2020 the Supreme Court will end up at 7-2. Dems can’t let that happen. |

Then they better elect Biden. Too many ppl use twitter as a method of polling. It’s nothing but a far left echo chamber. Normal ppl hate this SJW, identity politics bs. Hell, the main trending topic on the site today was accusing JK Rowling of being transphobic for agreeing biological sex is binary.

Correct he won't be convicted if he is even put on trial in the Senate. All will soon come into view 5×5.

What'd be nice is some sort of system where you can only run once, therefore you aren't in relection mode the minute you get into office. Maybe 6 year terms for all elected offices and every office is limited to one term. That's it. Enough time to get something done, but not so long that you become a career politician. There are plenty of brilliant Americans who would probably do great things for the country, but they want no part in playing the political games.

What Obama destroyed in 8 years on all these issues, he has rebuilt. Say what you want about his lifestyle, mannerisms etc., (I am not a fan), he has delivered as promised And that's because he is not a politician from the swamp. And this impeachment will only blow up in the Democrats' faces and cost them the 2020 election (besides the fact they do not have a viable candidate). Pelosi's tactic, after rushing these charges through the House, is now to hold onto them and drag this out as long and deep into the election season as possible. By doing this, she is handing the election to Trump.
