Default ND Connection to "Student Athlete" Admissions Scandal

ND's academic standards were too high for a "long snapper recruit", so he ended up at USC...

I would like to know how this parent thought they were just going to get him into ND pretending he was a long snapper on the football team without BK and all of us searching for his game film on the internet. didn't they realize that ND fans take recruiting very seriously. ND has turned away 5-star talent because the standards were to high and some how ND was going to bend the rules for a long snapper, that's to funny.

They weren't trying to get them on scholarship as a "long snapper", they were just using the fake athlete angle in order to get admissions to look at them in the more lax "athlete" angle in terms of GPA, test scores, etc. Never had to be published by school, never show up at tryouts, etc. Essentially, they were like a "preferred walk-on", or maybe even less so. A non preferred walk-on, if you will.

Bon Jovi's son was a walk-on QB....

Regardless, it is highly unlikely that he gets into ND as a preferred walk-on if his dad wasn't Bon Jovi.

I do not have a problem with this type of situation which was the result of Weis and Bon Jovi being friends. I assume that no money exchanged hands (unless Bon Jovi donated to ND which seems to be perfectly acceptable to colleges)

Matt Painter, head BB coach at Purdue, has Tommy Luce (the son of his college roomate) on the team as a walk-on. By all accounts, Tommy is a great kid and is not a bad player and gets in for a minute or two during garbage time but there were probably 20 other kids trying out as walk-ons who were just as good. Sometimes it's just who you know...

Played against UMass his junior year.

https://und.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=1765

This means he stuck in the program longer than the scam people who got admitted with a scholarship, then immediately "left the program."

Also looks like he rehabbed an ACL injury as a sophomore and then came back to play so he serious about football.

Looks like he came in under Kelly in 2013 so any Weis/Bon Jovi connection had limited impact on his making the team

Hey, if Bon Jovi made a serious contribution to the school and his kid met minimum requirements, I'm cool with that...not this cheating crap though.

Also, he showed up to practice for at least 3 years.

Realized this last night... Lori Laughlin dropped $500,000 to get into USC. It was advised that these cheating students would never get into ND. Thus, the value of ND's education has to well exceed the $500,000 entry fee... Haha.
