Give Fleck NDs talent and I think you see Minnesota handle Iowa easily. I get Iowa is not a great team, but they are top 20 with a top 10 pick at DE, and is always good in the trenches. Minnesota plays tough on defense and seems noticeably faster then they did when he took over. Living in Wisconsin and watching the badgers every year also, I can see how far Minnesota has come in just a few years. Fleckís antics work because itís genuine, not some gimmick. The guy is like that every game, has a ton of enthusiasm ,and seems to love his players, and those players play hard for him.
Minnesota and Iowa have had similar recruiting classes for the most part the last 4-5 years. In the 30s-50s. It isnít like Iowa had vastly better players. I think we also saw that Penn St isnít that great when they struggled with Indiana. Big 10 is a joke outside of Ohio St.

My post was replying to Iowa being 7-2 against top 10 teams at home . I was comparing our talent to theirs , and what a coach like Fleck could do with top 15-10 recruiting classes. Iowa and Minnesota have been somewhat close. 2015 Minnesota was around 65, after that 40-50.. Iowa always around 35-45, which could be a bigger difference then you think. 2015 when Minnesota was #65, would be seniors this year. This year Minnesota is around 30 which to me shows Fleck is getting recruits to buy in. I understand Fleck is the ďnext ď up and comer . I think what he is doing at Minnesota is more impressive then a Central Michigan or Cincinnati. I do think he needs to show another season or two of consistency however.

If we do move on from Kelly (which I hope not), but Clark Lea as HC with Chip Long at OC would be our best bet. If we went outside the program, would like to see us pursue Chris Petersen or Kyle Whittingham.

Peterson is never going anywhere because of his kid. Whittingham is a safe hire. He would be BK 2.0 but with lesser pedigree and probably lesser wins. Iíd stick with BK at this point.
