Default Screen Game

Forgive me if you guys get tired of the X and O's but they will always be my favorite part of football.

As you know I've been studying the Air-Raid this offseason so that led me to Mike Leach which led me to Hal Mumme who is ironically coaching in the XFL under Bob Stoops in Dallas

There has got to be a better way for ND to run screens.

This was an RPO with the 2nd team that worked for lenzy's td but is fugly

down 6 hats vs 5 in blocking

and 4 vs 3 at the point of attack

The space and an inferior opponent, allowed Lenzy to make a TD. But Clarke almost gets killed and the RB woulda been tackled for loss because of pulling lineman

Glad we changed OC's

Default takes too long

Hal Mumme said 1.2 to 1.5 seconds. Our screen took 3 seconds to get to Lenzy

I think a lot of us had opined the seemingly very slow developing WR screens Chip loved. The 1.2 vs 3.0 seconds is a perfect example of it. I also believe this has been a problem since Kelly has been here, though I hope Tommy can improve.

Notice first image at 7:23, this one at 7:20 and Lenzy is still in the process of the catch.

About the only fast screens I remember were the bubble screens to Fuller. Those used to be very effective, though I couldn't say I timed them. Maybe they had more so do with how fast Fuller was and he moved the ball.

Was that 2015? I can easily find one and time it. I think in 14 or 15 he had a TD vs Syracuse.. Let me find it EDIT: 14 see below

Snapped at 11:03.5

Fuller gets it at 11:02

So somewhere between and 1.2 and 1.5.. (Much more acceptable to Hal Mumme)

play design matters see a shorter throw with no indecisive RPO.. They are RPO's but they didn't stall in the mesh Accurate throw too.. TD!
