Now if they say a RB has track speed (like Tyree) that's another story. He is the goods and should start from Day 1.

Things are starting to buzz. The coaching circus has begun and the early signing day it 2 weeks away. ND only has 1-2 spots left as of today. BK will perform his end of year interviews shortly which may result in that number changing but very slightly if at all. The two names currently to watch are Ramon Henderson and Jalen McMillan. If McMillan visits in the next week it will be huge, otherwise nothing to see there.

Washington stayed in house for their new head coach, but if he visits, I think you are right.

I did this last year and liked the comparison. These are the average player ratings over the last several years and the projection for this years class.

Currently:
2020 - .9153 (adjusted to remove LS Peitsch and does not include I. Pryor)

Current + Ramon Henderson:
2020 - .9127 (adjusted to remove LS Peitsch and does not include I. Pryor)

Current + Henderson and Pryor:
2020 - .9130 (adjusted to remove LS Peitsch)

**Pryor was rated a 97 coming out of high school. Currently I gave him a solid 92 rating given his skills, size, and experience.


2019 - .9094 (adjusted to remove P Bramblett)
2018 - .9005
2017 - .8980 (adjusted to remove K Doerer)
2016 - .8934 (adjusted to remove LS Shannon)
2015 - .9067 (adjusted to remove K Yoon)
2014 - .8974 (adjusted to remove P Newsome)
2013 - .9230 (Jaylon and Co.)

If ND were to pull off landing Jalen McMillan or someone of his caliber, this class player rating would be about .9160. If they manage to get the DB recruiting where it needs to be then ratings wise ND will be up with the top programs. This current rating would put them in "Tier 2" with OSU, Oklahoma, A&M, and Auburn. They would be a little behind Alabama, LSU, UGA, Clemson, and Texas (what?). That said, I am also very curious to watch how these current DB recruits pan out. ND has done a great job the last couple of years identifying guys that start low rated and really rise along with finding a few guys that have outperformed their rating.

interesting stats. I really like the class and if we get one more DB, that would be perfect.

As for Texas, they always have a strong recruiting class because they can pull all the top end talent from in-state.

Just FYI - premium site just posted a story on McMillan. It sounds like Long was out there to visit him this week, but McMillan told him that he is 100% committed to Washington. I wouldn't say it's completely over because there is a small chance BK does an in-home, but I would say that it's very unlikely McMillan flips.

I noticed that you left off Kelly's earlier years when he seemed to be doing something different (maybe putting more energy into recruiting?) before he got the "coldest seat in America"

I think I stopped at Jaylon's class because that is the one people typically want all classes to be like.

How many of those early recruits didnt last... ie Lynch. Would be interested in seeing the star rating of the Jrs or Srs on a team.

That is where the 247 ranking of 85 person rosters comes into play. They rank teams each year on the basis of whose is on the team at that time. They subtract transfers out and add transfers in.

This shows that from 2015 to 2019, ND's total roster became less talented compared to other teams.

It shows that, as LasVegas said, Kelly got lazy and recruiting suffered.

Now, we have to hope that Kelly 2.0 does not get lazy again since he is no longer on the hot seat.

Not sure i agree that Kelly got lazy.

Lots of recruiting falls on other coaches... and there were several during that time who wern't good recruiters.

Also, there isnt a huge change in things.
