Would 191 yards with 3 TDs work?

It does for me!!!

Adams reminds me a lot of Eric Dickerson...same build and upright running style in the open field, some of the same sneaky power and breathtaking break away runs.

I have really enjoyed watching him but I wonder what's going on with Dexter Williams? I have not been reading anything about him, did I miss something? Is Williams out or hurt worse than thought?

Having a backfield with both Adams and Williams at full strength and Wimbush making plays is as good a running attack since '93 for sure. Adams for Heisman NOW!

I heard that as well. The graphic just had the 4 top guys (Barkley, Taylor, Mayfield, and I don't remember the 4th) and I was disappointed Adams wasn't on there (nor is he on the "Heissman Watch" page on ESPN at the moment) but the commentator called him out by name saying he should be on more people's minds, or something to that effect.

Kelly said Dex still isn't 100%.

I'd say close enough. I imagine he's at least a fringe candidate now.

Default Josh is listed on Sports Illustrated web site

SI has moved Josh to #4 on their short list for the Heisman . . . well deserved

What a joy it has been to watch him run, I'm going to miss him when he's gone. Best back I've been able to watch play for ND and it ain't even close.

From Sporting News:

Why he’s top-five: A surprise addition to the Heisman watch, Adams has been the offensive catalyst for Notre Dame’s rise to its No. 9 ranking. The Irish, who have already beaten Michigan State and now USC, have earned their ranking. And the rushing attack, led by Adams, is a primary reason. He has 967 rushing yards on 105 carries (9.2 yards per carry) and eight touchdowns. Against USC, he rushed 19 times for 191 yards and three touchdowns.

What he needs to show: Adams has nearly 1,000 yards on the season already, along with that impressive yard-per-carry average. He has bulled over everyone except Georgia and Michigan State. Playing well in big games against N.C. State, Miami and Stanford will secure his spot as a true Heisman contender.

BUT they admit they’ve already anointed Saquon.

Big Ten Network now basically has Josh at #6. He made great strides this week.

As far as comparing Josh to previous running backs I'm not real comfortable with the Eric Dickerson analogy. The back I think of is Jim Brown. Now I know most of you guys never saw him run, but he is the one for me. Brown ran more sweeps and I would love to see Josh do that, but the darn off tackle thing just never gets old and works every time. No need to change.

He's up to 4th now in the ESPN poll as well.

Still a long shot, but if Ohio St. contains Barkley to a 75 yard, 1 TD game this week and Josh goes for 175 and 3 more TD's vs the "vaunted" NC State rush D, things might start to heat up just a bit.

^^^^^ This is quite possible. Now don't forget the last game of the season against Stanford. If we could corral Bryce Love and Josh go off against that weak run defense, we just might bring home the hardware.

OK, I know Barkley got a kickoff return for a touchdown, but for Pete's sake, he got 44 yards on a multitude of carries today while Josh goes off for over 200 against what many believe is a top 5 defense. Josh is getting a lot of pub lately by ESPN. Looking for another huge day next week against Wake Forest. I'm starting to think he may just win this thing. If I was coaching I would let him go for 300 against Navy.

I think they are going to start slobbing JT Barrett's knob.

I wonder what Adams' numbers would look like in a more conventional offense without being pulled later in the game as its been mentioned. Didn't they mention he hasn't played in nine quarters this year or something like that? That's basically two full games riding the pine.

I don't really care about individual awards but it would be nice to see an ND guy in NYC again if nothing else.

He'd be putting up record numbers and win the Heisman Trophy! But if he got injured, that would've been the end of it. I want him to have insane numbers, but at what risk?

With 4 games left, including an undersized Navy, Adams will be able to put up the stats. Guessing the Miami game will be prime time, National audience so a great chance to show those who haven't seen him play and close what gap remains.
ND vs Stanford with ABC making at an Adams vs Love Clash will be in hype overdrive. Adams will be in NYC and let's hope it plays out in his favor which includes ND needing to continue to win. GO IRISH!

I think it's insane that we have this great running back and don't care that he will leave early because of whats behind him.

I think the problem for Josh is he's "just a runningback"

Heisman voters seem to prefer 1) QBs and 2) guys that "do it all"

This is where Barkley has a huge edge as he's returned kick-offs for touchdowns and has had acrobatic receptions for touchdowns as well as being a good runningback.

If Barkley and the lions finish strong, I can't see him not winning it even after the OSU disaster.

LOL Thank you!

I saw that play and thought: What was so spectacular about it? If he had better hands, there wouldn't have been all that drama

I just don’t buy the “we have so few playmakers, one guy has to do it all” Heisman campaign.

Im sorry, but Barkley's lead should dwindle after this week. 44 yards and a 2.1 y/c is not impressive. Meanwhile, Barrett's should go up with a comeback and very good stats.

However, Adams had 202 yards on 27 carries (7.5 y/c) against what all the pundits thought was an elite defense (especially at stopping the run)

Wow!! This is really getting interesting. I think Josh has a real chance. They've been trying to give this thing to Barkley, but 2 yards a carry in a marquee game is pathetic. Now Barret is coming on strong, but so is Josh.

Don't forget in the last game against Stanford we have a showdown between Love and Josh. I've watched their slow defense and I think Josh can torch them. Go Irish!!!!

We can't get too critical - and I realize there are extenuating circumstances here - but Josh didn't light UGA's defense up either. When a team basically has to shut one guy down (like we'll do to Love), it's got to be hard to be successful. The thing Barkley has is his all purpose yards. Still, I think Josh just may bring it home. Just a feeling (and a wish!)
