Default ND at Virginia

ND up 26-22 at half.

They've been playing well after really struggling for a 5-6 minute stretch where they couldn't score. UVA is one of the best defensive teams in the country, so not unexpected at all. And they're up 4 with Mooney and Gibbs really struggling. Mooney is 1-6 FG and 0-2 3PT and Gibbs is 1-5 FG and 1-2 3PT, but the make was with about 5 seconds left in the half to increase ND's lead to 4.

Durham is playing really well - very active down low on offense (6 points) and defense (3 rebounds). Prentiss Hubb finally made a couple of threes after being in a 4-20 slump. Dane Goodwin also playing well - hopefully he gets more PT in the second half.

UVA is terrible on offense, with the exception of their big man Diakite, who has 9 of their 22 points. They are really struggling shooting the ball, going 38.5% FG and 12.5% 3PT.

Game is on ESPN2 if anyone is interested.

Heading to OT.

UVA went on a big run with about 7 minutes left in the second half, but ND came back and had the lead for the last 3 minutes until Diakite hit a jumper with about 20 seconds left. UVA had three fouls to give and took all of them, so ND basically had to inbound it with 3 seconds left and they couldn't get a shot off.

Just ugly. Super Ugly. We are undersized and under classed. When will It be called? There is nothing good about ND basketball.

UVA beats ND 50-49

ND scored 2 points in OT. Mooney missed 2 FT. ND still had a chance to win at the end, but Pfluger missed the corner 3PT. Not sure why he took the last shot instead of Mooney or Hubb.

Mooney and Gibbs really had terrible offensive games. Mooney finished with 11 but was 0-5 from 3PT and missed 3 FT. Gibbs was absolutely awful - reminded me of him from last season. Went 2-11 FG and 2-4 3PT, although, to be fair, the 2 makes were clutch. Still, your two best players have to play better for ND to steal one of these games.

Not sure why Durham and Goodwin barely got any playing time in the second half, esp given ND's struggles on offense. They played with absolutely no rhythm, as there were several times were Hubb had to throw up a prayer to avoid a shot clock violation. Just a really poor game offensively, and ND had a chance to win at the end of regulation and at the end of OT. Very frustrating to watch.

ND is on the bubble according to Lunardi. But that was a missed opportunity. They most likely lose to Duke on Saturday (at Duke) and then they have 4 very winnable games: UNC at home (UNC just lost to Wake), Miami at home, then Boston College and Wake Forest on the road. ND will need to win those four games to have any shot. In all honesty, they probably need to win out after they lose to Duke - that would include a win over Top 10 FSU.

The offense was really frustrating to watch. Nothing was working. Several missed layups down the stretch, too - and the FT's.

Bennett played the end of that game perfectly defensively, and we fell right for it. They effectively killed the end of regulation by fouling us every couple seconds, and we really just let them do it, instead of trying to pound it inside or just anything else than seeing Hubb dribble then get fouled, giving us only a couple seconds at the end to try to do something. I did think Mooney got raked on that layup, but he would have missed his FT anyway...

Thanks Tneun89 for the recap I didnít get to watch it last night. I agree if they lose to Duke they will have to win the rest of the regular season games.....and then probably a couple of games in the ACC tournament. To get into the big dance.

Agree. D So darn frustrating. ND just let them use the fould, which they knew were coming, instead of driving the ball and making them foul in the act of shooting to get to the line. Then in OT, Mooney went to the lbne with 2 free throws with ND down 50-49 and missed both! But you could tell he was gassed from playing so hard and so many minutes. Brey should have used a time out before the free throws to give him a rest. Bet he would have made both and ND wins!
