Default Shaun Crawford Returning in 2020

Most assumed he'd be granted a 6th year, but now it is official. Huge boost to the secondary.

Edit: Unclear if the NCAA has actually already granted it.

Crawford returning next season will be big considering our CBs will be a major concern.

Great to hear! Big boost for the secondary. Hopefully he can remain healthy.

This is probably one of the more important returnees. I just donít know about our corner depth. Also, I think he is a glutton for punishment. Hereís hoping to a clean bill of health going forward.

With Crawford back, I think the secondary looks solid next year. Crawford and Bracey as starting CBs (I believe that Bracey led the team in PBUs last year, despite his limited playing time). It sounds like Wallace (summer) and Rutherford (season) were impressive on the practice field. If they can continue to develop, ND is in good shape at CB. Very excited about safety with Hamilton back and the addition of Isaiah Pryor. Hopefully Griffith develops at his more natural position and ND can have a solid three-man rotation at the back.

Update: Crawford did actually hear back from the NCAA, so he's good to go.

There should have been no concern - it was the textbook path to a 6th year - but you never know with the NCAA.

This is big return, hopefully he stays healthy, has an amazing year, and gets drafted! The kid has been through so much. He will be the oldest guy on almost every field next year. lol

I expect a big jump in production seeing as this is his second year recovering from his ACL tear. Based on past experiences, there is a huge difference in how the knee feels in the second year post op.

Not totally off topic, but what kind of a class load does a 6th year guy even have? Especially at Notre Dame.

Glad to have him back. He's like having a coach in the field.

He should be his 2nd year into grad school by next season at the latest. ND requires an undergrad degree in 4 years and then admission into a graduate program to be able to return for a 5th year of eligibility. I'd assume continuing studies in that program would be year 6.

Glad he's back. Am I wrong that Crawford is the best CB on team for next season? ND has to do much better with recruiting DB's.
