I would like some thoughts on this i have been think about this for awhile now Tim Brown new WR coach and recuiter for the University of Notre Dame he would be perfect. Tim has done it all just look what he did at ND win a hesm. He will now go into the hall first ballot young kids would respect him and would listen to him about what ND has to offer. It might be me but if i was a star Highshool wr i would at least hear what TB had to say . thanks irishfire

That would be Rob Ianello, who Charlie grabbed from Wisconsin. He is widely regarded as one of the nation's top recruiters. I'd love to see TB on board, but I think he'll take some time off to look over the tv offers he has been getting. Nevertheless, our coaching staff is still top-notch, no complaints here.

I'm pretty sure coach Weis and Tim Brown had an agreement. Coach Weis wanted TB to coach for the irish some months back now--right after the Super Bowl they talked. TB wasn't sure if he was ready to retire at that time, so Coach Weis talked TB into retuning to the NFL for another season and think about the N.D. coaching offer in doing so. Which as you now know, didn't pan out obviously, with TB's retirement party ready to take place. That being said, I wouldn't be overly shocked if TB was coaching at N.D. by the start of the season. But then again, I wouldn't be overly surprised him taking a TV analysts job either. I'm sure the pay would be a tad bit better, not that he needs the money though. I dunno, I guess we'll find out soon enough. I'd like to see him at N.D. myself however.

I have to disagree some. I don't think Brown has the credentials at this point to TEACH. Just like Montana's name popped up as a possible, wonderful Coach Cut replacement. Super name wise but ability? One must assistant coach at Podunk U first a bit. Montana has his kids in grade school ball helps there coaching, I believ his winery and horses on top of TV commercials.. I did not see it as Weis was interested or asking. Brown was making the overtures back then. Interesting to chew over but I don't think there is much substance. But good post

How about TB and JM simply as recruiters. I Know i couldn't go elsewhere after talking with teh best QB of all time, and one of only 3 WR's with 1,000 NFL catches in his career.

Given the youth factor, I think TB will eventually end up coaching, maybe at ND. I agree with the earlier statement that he needs to get his feet wet in the "minor leagues" first before stepping into the spotlight. I think we can all agree that Bob Davie was a wonderful defensive coordinator, but should have been farmed out to a small school to learn to be a HEAD coach before being handed the reigns at ND.

One has to realis anything Tim Brown does must be on his own for ND.
Per NCAA as I understand it only the Head coach and 9 assistants can recruit. For Instance Ron Pawlus can NOT call up a kid off campus to come to ND he can only discuss issues with those on campus.
Coach Weis could NOT have Tom Brady talking to some kid to come to ND without a bunch of NCAA problems we do not want. Now today? If Tom Brady picks up a phone to a kid he is on his own. But your still sailing too close to an NCAA violation.. In otherwords TB needs to go get an assistant job somewhere, build a rep and forget about ND till he leaves.
You can not offer a player anything a another student does not get. It's a very strict area. Last I looked a coach can offer a player a lift in a car 30 miles from campus as a favor. Beyond that it's a "perk" and NCAA violation.
I want this program run clean

brown will do just fine as a play by play guy.
I've even heard that he'll do play by play for the nd games on nbc, hopefully thats true. Just for the recruits to be able to see him and talk to him would be big. His role in this game is very important

CW should hire Ron English!! :D I'm hoping that the Browns turn to garbage and Crennel gets fired so Weis can hook him up with a job. Two Super Bowl winning coaches...we would be absolutely unstoppable.

hey snatchey, very good post and i agree Davie wasn't ready for the head coach position at ND, neither is Tim Brown, they need to be SEASONED first, and Davie did a great job at ND as def coach , but not as a head coach :D

Hey...I have an idea...why don't we fire Minter and put Tim Brown has DC, b/c that makes as much sense as anybody who mentions the fact that we should replace Minter, in general.
If we did have to get rid of someone to pick up a big name like Tim Brown or Montana, who would it be?
If we wanted Montana, I would suggest Vaas, b/c Charlie is basically the OC/QB coach anyway...
Polian could always go, too, b/c he is only special teams and I think we could do just fine with a Tim Brown earning his stripes as a special teams coach...Damn....What if we got an all Tecmo coaching staff?
Jim McMahon:OC
Montana: QBs
Bo Jackson: RBs
Mark Duper: WRs
The Fridge: OL
LT: DC
Howie Long: DL
Karl Mecklenburg: LBs
Lott: DBs
Tim Brown: Special Teams
Wow...this list is ridiculous...I want the last ten minutes of my life back...instead, I am off to bed.
