Every year my church softball team travels to Ft Wayne IN to play in a large church tournament labor day weekend. We got the schedule back and we play at 3,5, and of course 7 o'clock on Sat night which is kick off time. I look forward every year to this tourny but I'm so sick i'll miss the first few moments of the Weis era. The games usually last an hr and we are staying down there so I should be able to catch all of the second half. I do have a little tv that runs on batteries but I'm not sure the guys would appreciate it if I had that on the bench. So anyway, as you can imagine I'm torn in two but at least I'll be missing the game while i'm playing ball instead of shopping for shoes with my wife or something. I won't miss a snap of the Michigan game so I've got that going for me

One recommendation... TIVO
And avoid all friends, family, radio sports shows, etc who might know you're a Notre Dame fan.
That way, when you get home turn that sucker on, skip all the commercials, and if there is any more rediculousness with the officiating like last year you'll be able to send it to the NCAA for review. Because obviously they weren't monitoring that game.

Tobey, I feel your pain, probably more than you can imagine. It's very hard for me to type this, but I have to miss the USC game because of my brother's wedding. I know, I know, I should skip it and tell him to find a new best man, but my mom is making me do it. I will be the only person on that plane to Antigua wishing I was back in Indiana for the game. I won't even be able to use my cell phone to check the score!

I am feeling it too. I mean at least you might get the game at a bar or something, Snatchy. I am missing the Michigan game because I have to move my younger sister into college with my dad. I tried to get out of it, but he is just as big a ND fan as I am so he told me that if he is missing it, we are missing it together. I'll probably just bring an exercise radio or something where they broadcast the game. If anybody lives in the Boston area, can you help me out by telling me what radio station it is.

Or I can give you my cell phone number...feel free to call quarterly( if not more) during the Michigan game..although in Ann Arbor(I even hate typing that cities name) I may be too busy dodging foreign objects that are being thrown at me by their lovely fans that they have up there .. but like I was saying I would be more than happy to give you updates as often as you would like..!!!GO IRISH

HMM Moving?? Well if best man explain your the worst choice ever. :D You could put one of those tiny TVs in your pocket and just pretend your nevously checking on the ring being there. Just don't scream out "THOUCH DOWN IRISH" when he is kissing his bride. Pour it into the punch bowl for us.

Snatchy,
Don't even want to think about the USC game and weddings. My first cousin just got a job in the IS department at ND. He called me b/c he had 2 tickets at face value for the USC game. Of course i was asked to stand-up for a friend of mine whose getting married that day. If i was just an usher I would probably back out. Where's the luck man, where's the luck

This actually happened to me. I was best man for this Pal. Another friend and I wondered around at the reception after. You know those little curstless white bread sands filled with green cheese and some "Yuck" Punch. So my friend and I slid out to go get some beer. We found a poolhall/bar a few blocks away. We both went in and started having some brewskies and shooting pool. (Lousy choice of a Best Man)
Now, understan we are the only two in this dive in tuxedos and cumerbunds. So we did get looks.
My friend was lining up a shot on the table so I went to the bar to order two more beers. Sitting on a high stool. The door opens and in comes the Priest from the wedding in his suit and Roman Collar and makes his way towards me.
I said (Pardon all of this) Je*** Father what are you doing in a place like this?" He just smiles as I gave him a beer and says "Some of us do, some don't"
He was a darn good pool player. None of us ever got back :D True Story.

I won't even be able to watch it in a bar, because I'll be on a plane all day Saturday flying to Antigua for the wedding. Then when I get there, I have no idea if I'll even be able to get the score. Do they broadcast ND football in Antigua? Will my cell phone work down there? I'm really starting to freak out at this point. At least I can be freaking out while sitting at a swim-up bar drinking rum until I can't see.

Lord willing i wont be missing any games this year unless an emergency comes up or i get a girlfriend and she wants to get freaky which i seriously doubt. (LOL) and uhmm or if it rains...i have satelite in my house so if it rains im screwed. ALSO...let me tell you guys a story from last season. Last season i believe it was the washington and the michigan game were it was raining here so i was like no!! but then i remembered at my dads shop there is cable tv. i called him up told him if he can pick me up and i went over just in time for both games so it was crazy!
so yea good timing of my calls. anything for nd even if i had to lose the comfort of my home to go a noisy shop for 2-3 hours with people walking around the whole time and me having to turn down the volume and not scream so loud when nd scored....
good times good times.
go irish.

I've always gone to extreme lengths to catch the games, no matter what the cost, but this one has me perplexed. I have a strong feeling that I am going to miss a game that is going to go down in ND history. I know I can have it recorded, but it's just not the same.

I'm not moving, I am moving my sister in. All I need is Westwood 1 in Boston and I am set for the game. Anybody got that info? Thanks for the help.

Ohh I see now. Well if my sister I would agree to help her move but she's strapped on top the truck or car holing a sat dish the whole way while i watch the game.
I know no Boston people. My daughter in AF will get PDS to New Jersey next year so is excited.

Hahaha. I hope my sister understands when I tell her I pulled a muscle in my back, and then she sees me jumping up and down when we score all of our TDs and when she sees me throw stuff at the TV when Mich scores their only TD.

On a side note, I think this post got more responses faster than any I've seen posted yet. I guess that shows what a volatile subject it is in the hearts of true domers. GO IRISH!

LOL, sounds like a couple of elementary school kids fighting over cookies and milk. I'll give you both the official "Snatchy McPants Manly High-Five." Be forewarned, it stings at first, but you'll appreciate its awesomeness. The clap of the hands can be heard from sea to shining sea.

Tobey!Tobey!Tobey!Tobey!Tobey!Tobey!Tobey!Tobey! To bey!Tobey!Tobey!Tobey!Tobey!Tobey!Tobey!Tobey! On a side note I caught a little of Kirk Herbsteit on Mike and Mike on ESPN this morning. Nothing really earth shattering. He said ND would score alot of points but probably wouldn't be able to stop many people. I actually like him and respect his opinion quite a bit. the rest of the college football guys on there are idiots. Mike Greenberg said ND would be 1-5 at best after the USC game. He was just kidding around to get Golic going. I've been saying Pitt, MSU, and Washington should be wins and Purdure and Mich will be really tough and everything will have to go right to beat USC and then some. I could see anything from 3-3 to 5-1 to start the season. Can't wait. It's just over a weak and counting.

2-4 is lowest possibly to start. Even that doesn't seem likely. Right now I pick 4-2, with losses to Mich and Pur.

C'mon Irish, I'll be at both those games (Mich and Purdon't). Can't I have one win?

I've got a personal score to settle with a PU fan who sat in front of me last year. I'm always a respectful fan, especially to visiting fans, but this guy was out of control rude. I'll find him and point out the error of his ways, this I promise.
