Right now we have 2 remaining spots for 3 players. We'd rather get McCoy and Young, and presumably Mustain is our consolation prize if one of those guys begs off. McCoy looked pretty strong Irish earlier in the fall, unfortunately he's been rumored to be leaning hard OU over the last little bit of time. As such Charlie of course has a plan-B. If McCoy does in fact go to OU or Young goes elsewhere Charlie has Mustain ready to sign. I assume that's the reason Mustain hasn't made a decision yet. If there's room I bet he'll be Irish. Unfortunately, we're all waiting on McCoy and Young.

At this point I don't know who I'd choose or how I would rank them. If we do get any of these two I'll be happy. I think McCoy's value is big because we need major help at DT and based on what I saw Saturday, he's a BEAST. Then again, Young and Mustain are both supposed to be head and shoulders above the rest of our O-line or QB recruits respectively. So really, no way to lose.

We have to be happy with this recruiting class. One point of concern I have is the lack of defensive recruits. We have 17-19 offensive players vs. 10-11 defensive players. I am thinking a couple of the offensive kids are going to end up switching positions based on the team's need and their ability. If we land 6 offensive linemen I feel pretty strongly that one will likely end up at D-tackle. Imagine 360lb Chris Stewart as a man eating nose tackle. He would necesitate a double/triple team every play, freeing up the linebackers to fly around the field.

I also think that we may move Yeatman or Schmidt to the otherside of the ball as possible linebackers. Schmidt is very highly rated as a fullback, but I don't know if he's good enough to knock Schwap out of the starting lineup, and I bet he doesn't want to be stuck behind him for the next 3 years so the logical progression is to make him into a linebacker.

I really don't like Mustain at all. I'm not even the biggest Zach Frazer fan, even though I still like him. I really like DD demetrius jones. I just can't wait to see who wins the recruiting battle at the quarterback postition. I hope that it doesn't include a clown like Mustain though. I'm sure he's a great player (despite his showing at the AA game), but I'm a little leary of having three QBs on scholarship.

I think that moving Schimt to LB would be awesome if he could make the transformation, but I'm not a big fan of moving Yeatman there. Yeatman is a pretty big kid, and he's fast, but I don't think that he has the agility to play that position.

I'm really hoping against hope that McCoy and Young come to ND. Right after signing day, it's going to be interesting to see how many early commits we get, if any. Clausen anyone?? In our dreams maybe. Ben Martin or someone of that caliber would be a nice start though. The question is, "Is he willing to be dissed by every recruiting service around for A) committing early and B) committing to the Irish."

I can't disagree with what you said bluester till that Mustain word popped up.

Everyone is in just which two? The D needs bad help, everyone admits I can't see Charlie chasing another QB. We are kind of full QB wise. That's why I think Demitius Jones will be switched from QB to another position. Defensive? With Young gone even the Texas coach at the AFCA convention stated they are fine just have to re-tool their Offensive package for a none running QB.

I can't see Charlie who does not like scramblers, re-tooling the fine Patriots/ND playbook we have to make one kid fit. Toss in Jimmy Clausen 2007 just where would Mustain fit? As it is I think Clausen would have to redshirt a year if he chooses ND.

IF we are deep into the 2007 kids as Charlie has said. He knows which kid is definitely the 2007 QB. This puts you right back on square one and we need D help and Charlie knows that. He will go for the big guys then tweak position changes. Like he said if your a Tackle have shorter arms he will move them to Guard.

But like I thought I sure would give Jones the punting dutiy if he can learn. Triple exciting threat, punt, Pass effectively and run effectively from that position. You just blew the opposing teams punt defense apart.

Mustain is not the next option if McCoy doesnt sign, lookout for Kates, I can tell you now from what I read Kates has been told that if McCoy or Young fall out then hes in, this is from interviews with his coach and other published articles, Mustain isnt getting in, Kates would hop on the moment a spot opened, it woudl take both Young and McCoy not to come for Mustain to hop on, and we all know we wont miss out on both, I personally believe we wont miss out on either but if we do Kates comes and Mustain is left on the outside

We can completely forget about Mustain. Not happening and we have no need for him. The only way we get Mustain is if one of the other 2 QB recruits decommits. Not happening either. We will land Jones and Frazer this year and only 1 QB next year (I strongly say it will be Clausen---just my prediction). Alot of rating agencies has Mustain as the #1 QB in this class. But remember one thing, coach Weis has Frazer as his #1. Cutliffe also had Frazer ranked #1. That's all that should matter.

I'm sticking by my call from earlier. 2 spots remaining: Young and McCoy. I wouldn't bet my house on McCoy just because all the constant talk back and forth but my source still says that he is Irish and let it play out. We are fine. He has yet to be incorrect so I completely believe everything he tells me. I'm sticking with the McCoy call.

From what I understand and have been told it is very possible Clausen is already on board! I would be suprised if we didnt get him.

BG I think Clausen is IN......Weis won't tolerate any more slow sign ons...He is a testy coach "You on board or not?" I like his style. I say if Clausen has ND high he is IN. :)

3 guys that are tops on my wish list for 2007 are: Jimmy Clausen, Ben Martin ( a top DE from OH) and Josh Oglesby ( awesome OT).

We are sitting extremely well with all 3.
