I want to believe it's true, but the inconsistency of Mike Brey teams gives me pause. Additionally, Brey took Kansas over Memphis citing the similarity to his "transition" team he coaches at ND. That pissed me off, though he ended up being correct that Kansas would win. I love our team, though, and I hope for the sake of our players they do well next season and stay in the Top 5 all season.

Not a chance. We all watched this final four and we don't even compare yet. If we can gain more consistancy from TJ and someone not LFH or K-Mac, then maybe top ten.

I agree Don, the way I see the ND basketball program is a consistant sweet 16 type of team with an occasional great 8 on really good years. ND just doesn't get the athletes in the BBall program that the 10 ten schools do, due in part to ND/Brey recruiting kids that are going to be in school for 4 yrs and graduate. I'm glad its the way ND runs its BBall program, but it puts them at a decided disadvantage.
And if you happen to find a 4-5* kid that wants to stay in school more than a year, you have to compete with the UNC's, Duke's, Kansas', UCLA's, Stanford's of the world for a very limited number of kids. Another thing we have to remember is that ND is a football school, first and foremost and we are competing against basketball schools for the limited number of players, its not an easy chore for Brey & Co.
