Here's a wild one. I just found this little article in a St Louis site. Insofar as I can tell every Notre dame site has him DE or TE. This is the first mention I have seen to Tackle spot. Would mean extra linemen no one knew about?

2. Paddy Mullen, DeSmet
6-4, 260, senior: Notre Dame oral commit transitioned from end to his natural tackle position. Blends size, agility and strength to create a difficult matchup for interior blockers.

Sir John,
I see him at some point maybe making the transition to o-line or possibly d-line especially if Reuland committs. He has the potential and has played both ways in highschool. I think the Irish would be overloaded @ tightend with Fasano,Carlson,Hiben, and possibly Reuland coming in so there would'nt be any need for him there.

I wouldn't doubt that. Once past the bio with stars, height weight, ability and position we are getting information fleshing out a fuller picture. We know it is specialization now but here is an example of playing both sides of the ball and a couple positions. That's the smarts to adjust, learn, adapt and be a bigger impact then another. Athleticism. Charlie seems to like this kind. In event of an injury..let say tackles start going down or tight ends. Coach can move this guy to one or the other "plug and play" and not miss a beat. Minimum practice, re-learning, comfort level or team confidence you can do the job need apply.

I would highly expect Paddy to switch to one of the lines, preferrably DT.

I think Weis with the plug and play likes guys who can play in multiple positions. Your never really short of personnel that way. One can "over specialize." Then too you can learn a trick or two one position valuable in the other more so.
