Notre Dame has always prided itself for being independent, independent from the state, independent with its one-of-a-kind academics, and independent in its football affiliation. With this apparent snub of other football conferences, Notre Dame has inherited this holier-than-thou reputation. Every other major football power has joined a conference why not Notre Dame, are they better than all the other universities? To fully understand Notre Dame and its reasoning for remaining independent, you have to know its storied past. A past littered with national championships and Heisman Trophy winners, and a past that captivated all of America and became her team. "You either love them or hate them right?" |
